Asus P8P67-M OC on 2600k Question

Hi guys I am planning on buying this Motherboard: Asus P8P67-M

along with this CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K Unlocked 3.4GHz
and this RAM: G.Skill RipJaws 4gb (dual) ddr3 1600 (F3 12800CL9D 4GBRL)

and I am planning on overclocking(i have a Corsair h50 or will buy another corsair hxx)

can you tell me what (theoretically) speeds can I reach max?

I knew once upon a time about all these Frequencies, CL, FSB speed, Voltage, etc, etc. by research and have since forgot it. due to long time of not thinkering with computers.

All I know now is some type of RAM is different than others when it comes to overclocking so what RAM would you recommend me to reach higher speeds? is that RAM bad for OC'ing?

I plan to reach at least 4Ghz is that possible with this?

Im a little tight on budget here so please help me make right choices

4.0ghz is highly possible. I have the same board running a 2500k and it's @ 4.5ghz with a slight volt increase.

what about ram type, the frequencies and CAS latency??? would it matter?

what cooler do you use?

ram speed isn't too important for CPU speed clocking. Only BIOS wil laffect ram clocking with some modules, and that depends on what board you get. You'll get about 16k read, 18k write @ 1600 MHz, and 23k read, 24k write @ 2133 @ 9-10-9. Only benchmarks seem to be affected...daily usage with 1600 MHz 9-9-9-24 is just fine.

H70 is more than enough for 4.5GHz, IMHO. Most chips will do this @ less than 125w pulled through VRM, and most aftermarket coolers are good for like 150w-250w....

I run 4.6GHz now, on H70, with the H70's fans running the included low-speed adapters. LinX/IBT will give me 85c load temps, normal gaming and such i don't break 70c. This is the same for both of my CPUs.

2500K, I have heard a fwe peopel stuck @ just 4.4GHz. Crazyeyes was the first I heard, but another local friend has a similar chip that he just got.

Most chips can be maxed out on air. there's a hard limit where the next multi jsut doesn't work, and the last working multi is generally had to get fully stable. Overclocking these chips to the max is so easy it's scary.

I have the same memory as you got.
I'm using an corsair H80 with mine and it folds 24/7 temps stay in the mid to high 40's C.
