AMD Reports Third Quarter Results
AMD today announced revenue for the third quarter of 2011 of $1.69 billion, net income of $97 million, or $0.13 per share, and operating income of $138 million. The company reported non-GAAP net income of $110 million, or $0.15 per share, and non-GAAP operating income of $146 million.
“Strong adoption of AMD APUs drove a 35 percent sequential revenue increase in our mobile business,” said Rory Read, AMD president and CEO. “Despite supply constraints, we saw double digit revenue and unit shipment growth in emerging markets like China and India as well as overall notebook share gains in retail at mainstream price points. Through disciplined execution and continued innovation we will look to accelerate our growth and refine our focus on lower power, emerging markets, and the cloud.” Quarterly Summary
AMD’s outlook statements are based on current expectations. The following statements are forward-looking, and actual results could differ materially depending on market conditions and the factors set forth under “Cautionary Statement” below. AMD expects revenue to increase 3 percent, plus or minus 2 percent, sequentially for the fourth quarter of 2011. For additional detail regarding AMD’s results and outlook please see the CFO commentary posted at quarterlyearnings.amd.com.

Gratz AMD. You earned it with your great APUs. Makes up a little for the minor bump that is bulldozer.

It means that they will ship chips to manufacturers. Of course that doesn't necessarily means that you'll be able to buy a 7000 series card this year.

AMD made a profit! The end is neigh!
Seriously, don't under estimate the power of the APU. |

I think he meant "what else would they ship it for, besides revenue? A good gesture?"
Good news for AMD, though I'm not as optimistic as they are for Q4 as Bulldozer has not met expectations for many. Interested to see about these nice new 28nm GPUs though .

AMD needs a solid next gen Graphics launch & availability before Christmas to take the negativity off of Bulldozer. If they can pull this off, hats off to them.

Not only that, but pretty sure they have the next Xbox and Playstation. And with how massive console sales are and AMD GPU's going into every single popular console, that alone should be enough to keep AMD afloat, NV missed the boat on those opportunities.

Nope , consoles margins are very low , AMD has the current Xbox and Wi GPUs , and that still can't provide them with much revenue !

The difference between "not much" and none is a lot. And adding another console to the mix only makes them look even more stable.

Do you think they released bulldozer late so it don't effect this as much ?. I hope they can get their act together for end of 2012 because i would like another AMD setup but with it going be my main system they will have to pull some crazy good shit of.

It would be quite possible since that way the financial information regarding BD wouldn't be available until next year. Still, with so few CPUs getting out I think that AMD will be sold out of them regardless.

And I'm quite certain none of those will be out this year, and for the latter two probably not even next year. The Wii U has been reportedly been problematic, and I see it being a flop already, so I wouldn't hedge bets on AMD turning a huge profit there.
