System Specs

PCI-X1 to PC1-X16 low profile 430 GT

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814187135

I am wondering if this card will work with my system:

-AMD 1055T X6 2.8Ghz
-8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz
-Zotac 890GXITX-A-E
-120Gb SSD Sandforce 3

My motherboard uses PCI-X1 and wondering if I use this adapter:

http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-E...5W?ref=prid-20

Would this work without a power adapter?:

http://www.startech.com/PCI-Express-...apter~PEX1TO16

Any suggestions would be great I really don't want buy a new mobo.

I wouldn't imagine it would need extra power, considering that if you cut off all pins on a PCI-X16 card that aren't present in an X1 slot and then place it into an X1 slot, it would work (just at a slower speed). These should work on the same principle, just without electronics surgery/cutting.

Here's a tPU article where they tested the performance effects of doing this. (granted, it was using a much higher-end card)

Also, I think the Amazon picture is mixed up with a PCIe X1 to PCI(non-express) model. (See an example here, and see the other pictures of red ones.) But the product should be fine.

Newegg also sells X1 cards.

Forget the adapter. Just buy a normal x16 card and use a dremel.

Yeah and the BIOS chip, but when you are trying to fit everything into a miniITX design and still have to work around a 2 chip chipset, the fact that they even managed to get it to all fit is amazing.

I'd imagine that you'd probably want more of a flexible 1x to 16x adapter. (Note: that's the first site that came up, I've never shopped there so I can't vouch for them, illustration purposes only).

$imond$ u can go with the adaptor u find from Startech or go with a Flexible adaptor like BlackOmega links, i have used a PCI-Express x1 Flexible adaptor myself before i got my i5-2500k system myself for audio card it worked perfectly.

and for the rest, the PCI-E x1 to x16 adaptor is a nice touch for a GT430 most of them ain't as powerful even Sparkle has released a GT240 with PCI-E x1: http://www.techpowerup.com/130022/SP...ics-Cards.html

together with GT210 and GT220 but they don't have DX11 only 10 so if i was like having a low-bracket GT430 laying around myself i would have used the StarTech.com PCI Express X1 to X16 Low Profile Slot Extension Adapter (PEX1TO162) instead of a PCI-E x16 port ^^

u should have a clear advantage bcs it's a low-bracket gfx, so hopefully there is space when u got the flex riser on so u can normally screw the card in place in ur case.

I just bought this adapter I am going to place it right below my motherboard, I am using a full size tower so it should be be fine, I am using a Thermalrock eclipse so it should be fine with my ITX board. As for the video card I should be able to use something full size I know I will be bottlenecked by PC X1 but it sure beats integrated or typically overpriced PC X1 video cards.

(yea this a unique set up)

I am not worried about decoding 1080p, more less starcraft 2 performance and couple other games, I don't game heavily but I plan on upgrading my setup eventually so I will keep my card for my next mobo and cpu.

haha I missed that, I might be able to get a much faster card than the 430 GT, knowing I will be limited to PCIx1.
