Best Video Card for Post-Production?

Planning to build a Hackintosh and was wondering which video card was best.

I use Final Cut Studio 3 and all the other applications that come with it like Motion, Colour, etc.

And eventually I plan to get Adobe applications for doing special effects, more editing, audio, etc.

I know that creating your own Post-Production Film Studio requires a computer that has pure RAW power
of as many cores and threads as possible, and insane amounts of RAM.

I'm definitely looking at the i7-3960X and 64GB of Memory.

But ultimately, which video card should I get? AMD or Nvidia? And how 'high-end' should I go?

can't speak for final cut, looks like pure CPU software.
but if you are going to be also using adobe software, I'd suggest taking a look at this post by adobe. and recommend you to go with NVIDIA.

NVIDIA pretty sure all the new mac pro's have nvidia cards. should help with driver support

AMD cards in MAC Pros. Stock config uses an HD5770:

NP. Word is that "nextgen" models might be fitted with nV cards, but current models are not. I am curious to see how it all works out.

With Hackintosh builds, because of driver issues, it's always best to try to match the Mac Pro stock config as closely as possible. I'm still debating a MacBook Pro for Logic, but with X79 out now, I'm thinking I might do a Hackintosh instead.

Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 uses hardware acceleration with Nvidia and supports only GTX570 and GTX580, don't know what's with Final Cut. But why final cut? Better than pro cs5.5 ?

Both are equally great, IMHO.

I guess it depends on which one you pick up first.

I just happen to use Final Cut before all else and just "grew up" with it.

For anybody who's very familiar with building hackintosh's, here's my components.

Chassis: Lian-Li PC-V600FX
Processor: Intel i7 2600K
Motherboard: Asus P8P67 (Rev 3.1)
Memory (RAM): G.Skill Ripjaws X 4x8GB 1600Mhz
Hard Drive: Crucial M4 512GB Solid-Sate Drive
Video Card: EVGA GTX 580 w/ 3GB of VRAM
Power Supply: Corsair AX1200 Gold Modular
Sound Card: Asus Xonar Essence STX

Will be using 4-Bay drive enclosures as my additional storage space.
The Solid-State Drive is mainly for the applications and updates, etc.

And I will also be getting Corsair 32GB instead of G.Skill, most likely.

And I hope to get an 80Plus Platinum PSU instead.

Would there be any complications with this specific build?
