Dell explains that high end graphics cards give you a sharper desktop

Dell have proved it in an advert by showing the picture below:

Yes, as knowledgeable PC enthusiasts, we all know that something like a GT 520 will give a blurred picture while displaying a static desktop, while it's high end version, the GTX 580 will look nice and clear. Oh yeah, baby!

Dell got called out on this little bit of fraudulent advertising, by Reddit readers and apologized for this "mistake". Oh yeah, so intentionally blurring a picture, posting it in an advert to state a lie in order to sell expensive graphics cards was a genuine "mistake" was it?

Dell's "apology":
Quote:
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Dell endeavours to help customers to make the best decisions regarding their purchases. It was never our intention to mislead customers, and we apologise for any confusion caused. We have now removed the image from our Global sites. Dell remains committed to delivering the best possible experience to all our customers.
Don't you feel reassured now? Moral of the story: don't be clueless about what you're buying and you won't be fooled.

More details at PC Pro here and here.

The beautifully blurred text - took sarcasm to a new level.

Yeah, what happened with that corruption?

No man, that's not good enough. You need at least a 570 (448 core) to see a sharp picture! lol

GTX 570 = 480 cores/shaders/whatever they're called. Even that isn't good enough, as mine is all blurry too!

Wow, the cheap graphics card even managed to blur the stickers on the monitor!

I was sorely tempted to, but I wasn't sure if it qualified, alas and I would have to have toned it down a little, too. It woulda still been funny as hell.

DELL

That’s all I had to see and I knew it was something retarded. I remember when a co-worker wanted to upgrade memory and it could only be bought from Hell, I was like wtf! I talked to him last week and he had ordered another computer a whole set up. He said “Hey they told me my printer wouldn’t work with the new computer nor would the monitor” I was like your old stuff you bought a year ago? What kind of sense does that make SHAADY!! I guess they make a killing on clueless people. Maybe they figured hey we can get away with this we been pulling fast ones on our customers for years.

Next Dell will partner with Monster to offer a $200 3' video cable, you know, to make the picture on your monitor BETTER than the source signal itself.

Before reading the details on this below the pictures I was looking at the pictures themselves and just thinking, "The one on the left simply looks blurred is all. Like, the entire image looks blurred."

A laugh at those who thought this was 100% legit.
