Cryengine 3: the Titanic's interior recreated

Looks awesome. Just check it out:

Note a couple of hilarious typos in the text, lol

Mods, I'm not sure if this belongs in the gaming section because it uses a game engine, or general software. Please move, if appropriate.

Yeah, that works with it all right.

Also, the picture is detailed and near photorealistc and I especially like the nice touch of the cameraman's shadow on the walls. I wonder just how much storage that virtual world took up?

There is some purple texture flickers from time to time but all in all it will be a bad ass recreation!

They need to incorporate this and remake Titanic - Adventure out of time

Iceberg was in the engine room... lol... they havent done that level yet!

Truly amazing work. Thanks for the link.

I'd love to see some similar quality outdoor work, in say, Prague or some other historical and architecturally fascinating city. Mind that would be years and years of work to do at this quality level.

Looks pretty poop.

Needs textures/bump mapping etc etc etc looks like a render from a good few years ago due to that/

An example of what?

By the by the things I don't like about it, it's to "clean". ( why bump mapping would be good, you can see ALL of the surfaces are perfectly flat, obviously not the lil decals and cool designs and such but the flat parts are extremely flat and it's glaring to me)

A lot of the furniture looks like it's imported from stock 3d sites. ( I.E 20 polygons)

The bit at 0:52 is a pretty good example of something that looks incredibly dated ( sure theirs some reflections but if anything it's too shiny/reflective)

I'm fairly fussy when it comes to graphics though.

To put it simply this looks like it could be rendered with the source engine around the time half life 2 came out

Having said all that, the amount of work that's gone in is impressive, attention to detail/ amount of sepperate rooms/objects is all great .

Just the eye candy looks dated as balls.

No need man, just pop on youtube and look at cry engine 2.

Only thing cryengine 3 brings to the table is efficiency ( and potentially tessellation, although I've yet to see a great use of tessellation in games I've played so far) but it's a massive downgrade in terms of actually looking good.
