new 550ti. Unusual GPU-Z readings
I bought a 550ti today after my GTX275 died...*sigh*. Would have gone a bit higher had my wallet allowed. anyway. I put in the card in my rig, fired it up and ran GPU-z to get a feel of its vital states. and it is showing some strange readings. on the right is an image i picked off the web with correct readings
![]() bandwidth is wrong. should be at least 98GP/s or thereabouts. same is the case with pixel fill rate and memory rate. I played two rounds of Bfbc2 and frame rates were stable around 48fps. but why these unusual readings then ??p.s. Downloaded and ran furmark to see if the readings changed under load, but they remained unchanged. grrrrrrr. |

are you sure your card has GDDR5 ? try to look at the memory chips
600 MHz * 192 Bit / 8 Bits per Byte * 2 DDR = 28,800 the fillrate has been corrected for 0.5.7: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=155459 |

can i point out the fact that the supposed correct stats are using gddr5 and yours is showing ddr3?
as wizzard has pointed out the maths for the card having ddr3 would indicate the figures you have, so for some reason i think you got ddr3 and not ddr5 **edit** i also notice that there is quite a few things diff about your card and the supplied screeny mainly vendor, vram type, transistors, die size and the pci-e bus on your card is only running @8 1.1x compared to the @16x the screeny has Last edited by white phantom; Dec 29, 2011 at 09:16 PM. |

At least a 6850 coming from the 275. Why don't you get a 460 1GB? It's a little faster than the 275.

Not even high end cards have 3 gigs of gddr5. But then theres low end cards with hyperuberdupersuperultimate 3 gigabytes of gddr3 to trick the consumer that doesnt know better. The amount is important to some extent but the type and quality is something you need to keep an eye on.
edit: New radeons will be out in a couple of months. But if you cant wait that long a 6850,6870,460,560 would be a solid choice http://www.guru3d.com/article/vga-charts-spring-2011/2 Last edited by LDNL; Dec 30, 2011 at 08:21 AM. |

Actually may I ask where did you purchased the card?
There are actually a quite a few fake/remarked nVidia cards on my side of the world... The pixel fill rate is the problem, because there is no way it should be this low on a GTX550Ti. To the OP: might as well run some benchmark to see if the card performs properly.

I wouldn't blame the manufacturer. Lower priced DDR3 cards are an option for any manufacturer. Additionally, DDR3 is often used on cards that have more memory than the reference card, which sounds like what this card was. Unless the card was advertised as having DDR5, I think you just made a mistake to assume it did.

i would not buy a GTX 460, mine performed lower than my GTX 275. Most games that i get 70FPS i will get 50FPS with the GTX 460. such a bad buy + it was EVGA GTX460 so it was a pretty decent one to

Really? I always wondered how my ex-275 would fare against a 460. Didn't you had the 700 and something MB version?

Aah...you got Sapphire too
. well mines at stock 900/1050. i'v got this particular one http://www.sapphiretech.com/presenta...n=&lid=1&leg=0 Didn't have much success with my ex-275 when it came to OCing. will definitely have a go at 6870. Have seen it go past 1GHz on core clock on various forums. What utility are you using for OCing ? |

http://www.sapphiretech.com/presenta...n=&lid=1&leg=0 The cooler is surprisingly quiet, and the temps are ok too. For oc'ing i'm using ccc, but afterburner is pretty good, and you can adjust the voltage using that.
