Yes they can You have to be careful at higher levels not to kill them by mistake

I never use shields, but i know the ward spells work well against frost and fire

Not really, at least Lydia can't. When her health reaches 0, she'll just get down on her knee and pant for a bit. However, at that point she becomes vulnerable and can die until she gets back up; it's just that enemies are programmed to ignore her when she is down like that.

No, you get spells under regeneration called - lesser ward and steadfast ward. They both increasure your resistance and armour rating when in use.

That's what I do. I run away while Lydia gets beat up and I spam firebolts or ice spikes, depending on what the dragon is breathing.

oh well i found a way to avoid this dragon for the time being.instead of cutting through the hills for my grey beards quest take the long route and go around. But i died once i got to my destination haha

This time I don't use any companions.

When it comes to fighting dragons alone, for me it is usually a case of breaking out Ironflesh, and an atronach, shooting arrows, using poison, getting ready to press 'I' if my health gets too low.

At low character levels Dragons are definitely a formidable opponent.

yeah im a level 9 and im getting destroyed by the damn things

I really need resistance and health potions. so im back at whiterun and going to try and buy some. then im going to go to Riverwood and buy more or something. I only have 2 health and no resistance potions. I need some!

The best way to get potions is to do quests. Also you can use alchemy (use the bench in the alchemists shop)

I think wheat and blue butterfly wings make heath potions, but can;t remember exactly.

I found the best way to kill dragons at lower levels is to hide when they are flying, when they come to land, run up to them and hack and slash.

Make sure you upgrade all your armour too, you can do this many times, not like enchanting where it is a one off perk.

just learnt how to break items and enchant swords.

so i took great whiterun steel sword, refined it to fine in the smithy, and enchanted it with fire.
now it does 35 damage itself plus 15 in fire damage LOL.
kills those skeletons in one swoop.


im currently enhancing my magic skills, and am now after the staff of magnum. the eye of magnum looks cool!

i asked the girl on whiterun inside thatbuilding straight ahead right when you enter the market and she told me about the burned tree in whiterun and to talk to Danica the priest in the temple to bring it back to life. And so i am doing that quest now.

If u c people about, sprint towards them, and they'll help against the Dragon,........ but I think somewhere between L20-25 they should be much easier to take down by oneself.

I'm pretty sure he means just in reference to Skyrim only their performance isn't far off. Which is true if you are pushing settings since the game is so CPU dependent. Outside of skyrim, yep there is a sizable gap.

Go do some quests man, you get far more gold robbing Tombs and selling weapons

Go find a crypt with mages or vampires, their robes sell for decent amounts and don't weight a lot.

Also you'll be levelling up as well so dragon fighting will be easier.

Here's a small tip for you.

It's regarding a certain very helpful spell-tome that's close to whiterun.

Spoiler

There's a bandit camp north-ish of whiterun it has a wooden barrier around it.No mages and such there but it's guarding a mine the mine is FILLED with Iron ore ( and obviously bandit goodies!) as well as a book called transmute, it turns iron ore into silver ore and silver ore into gold ore.

Use the gold ore to make gold jewellery and you'll be rolling in the money!

A good way of making yourself strong:

Spoiler

Make shit loads of Iron Daggers. this raises smithing really quickly and cheaply, then sell daggers this increases speech. Together they will raise your level by about ~7, and you will have top tier armour gear at a low level. Now you wont get cut up as badly. Also ignore Dragon armour, completely pointless.
