dual core with HT, and the video card can play starcraft II quite well on medium - remember its only a 1360x768 screen.

my 40" HDTV has the same res, so its going to make an interesting backup gaming system for the GF, cloning the image over HDMI and using a cordless mouse + KB

i really am just curious as to what people think of the laptop, so please keep the opinions coming.

I would still go with an AMD APU over it. The GT520 is quite weak in comparison to the APU+dedicated graphics available in the HP DV6 series and Asus K53TA/A53TA/K43TA. They also utilize a more powerful quad core CPU, which are oddly enough known for overclocking pretty well (2.4-2.8ghz stable)

9.3 for that monster laptop of yours.

It lacks a more powerful video card and an SSD for 10.

Criticism
“However, the Intel CPU dispatcher does not only check which instruction set is supported by the CPU, it also checks the vendor ID string. If the vendor string is "GenuineIntel" then it uses the optimal code path. If the CPU is not from Intel then, in most cases, it will run the slowest possible version of the code, even if the CPU is fully compatible with a better version. ”

scout: 6.5/10 for the desktop, its showing its age and i know from experience P35 + low multi 45nm is a bitch to OC.

would like the system i built for my missus rated:

corsair TX750 v1
gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H
4GB DDR2 1066 patriot ram
500GB samsung
8600GT 512MB
athlon II x3 435
some coolermaster mATX case (forgot model, sorry)
15" LCD XD

plan is to upgrade CPU, GPU and monitor later on in the year. its her first desktop, so its already godly compared to what she's used to.

I would say 7.0/10. Once you beef up the CPU/GPU/Monitor depending on what you get could be anywhere from a 8.0 to a 9.0 more or less.

I disagree, c2d's are showing their age.

A sound card wouldn't make any difference on el cheapo 2.0 speakers.

8.5/10 (since it's a laptop)
