More AMD Radeon HD 7000 OEM Products Surface
Apparently, HD 7670 OEM isn't the only product that couldn't survive the prying eyes of the media, there are more. AMD's lineup of HD 7000 series OEM solutions extends downwards way beyond the HD 7670 OEM, it includes HD 7570, HD 7470, HD 7450, and HD 7350. There's no reason to cheer, though. First, these products are available only in the OEM channels, to pre-built system manufacturers so they could spice their specs sheets up; and second, they're complete re-brands of previous generation HD 6500, 6400, and 6300 families, down to the clock speeds and feature-sets. There are absolutely no HD 7000 series features, no DirectX 11.1, ZeroCore, new media-processing capabilities, nothing. The fineprint of their specifications is tabled below. Details of these chips can be accessed here.

So all people who buy pre built are stupid ?.. GTOOH!, and gaming is not be all end all either as there is many other things you can do with one... And lets face it if ya have a DELL even if you pay a little more for it they tend to get some one out to you ASAP.

I beg to differ 5770, 6770 and now this are pretty good actually, N those who buy prebuilds are not stupid technically, we can always help them learn how to build a new machine but a prebuild allows them to know all wuts inside and be able to upgrade it, aka a test bed...

My first one wasnt a Prebuilt, yes someone built it, it was a AT Case, Slot 1 Celeron 333 with 256 MB ram, Integrated graphics, 8 GB Hd, Asus Motherboard I believe with AMI Bios, 56K Modem, Windows 98 upgraded to 98SE. At the Time I just knew it as an IBM Compatible model.

Or they are just not that interested in computers and want something that works and have support. Most PC users are in this group.

Probably fall in same group that just want a car that turns on and off. Course they always thankful when there are those who are electronically and mechanically inclined around. That celeron machine was the first one i started to learn how to fix and build machines with, been doing it since 99 now...

Here's the problem, how will this effect selling APU's? I would've though AMD would've had less of these super low-end parts for OEM's as APU does it all for less. They would have had OEM seeing either... rely on Intel and GMA Craphic or have to add discrete card that's drive the price up. I'm not sure what this really means, could Nvidia finally get a decent Fermi Low-end that they can provide at a resonalbe price?
As to the 7670 still 40Nm and OEM, they gave up their best player selling OEM's the sweetest aftermarket upgrade path for an OEM box. I figured AMD would make Trinity APU and mobo at long last really do Hybrid C-F. Then build a 28Nm 7670 with improve clocks, while staying <75W. Such a card in Hybrid C-F might've provided performance that was like a 550ti an all on the OEM 350W PSU. My thinking is something forced this, but don’t yet get what it was. AMD was on track for a perfect storm sell Trinity APU/mobo (heck even AMD brand ram) to OEM cheap on the condition they always equip boxes with quality 350W PSU’s. OEM get the sal and AMD make sales of discrete card in the aftermarket. Heck I even imagined AMD doing a 7650 low-profile (though prbably 40Nm) and OEM’s building slim-line (SFF) cases that when Hybrid C-F could’ve provided a great entry game experience. |

well their really isn't a point to come out with new cards in low end9every new generation) because the current ones can handle everything fine currently. These are for HTPC's and low end systems that Don't want integrated graphics but will only be using for hulu, Dvd/Blue Ray. and maybe very low end games.

So everything except the top tier cards will be rebrands? That sucks. Not that I care they are rebranding cards, just that I was hoping to see some new cards, mainly low end cards on 28nm to see some cards that really used next to no power.
And they are OEM cards now, but I bet they will be retail cards soon enough, this is standard. Also, don't rip on people that buy Pre-builts. I still buy pre-builts a lot of the time just for the simplicity sake of not wanting to waste the time building it, and the fact that at this point w/ OS and Screen the pre-built often comes out cheaper than what it would cost to build it myself(even without my time taken into account). But I wouldn't buy pre-builts with these cards in them, I'd just order the card seperate and put it in myself.

Those card are NOT for gaming. For office use they are ideal. Just curious about some numbers for noise and power consumption. Those are the most important features for those cards...

And you better believe the OEMs are going to use the 7570 and 7670 as the starting cards in their base model "gaming" computers and people will be buying them to play games with. And really, they should be fine for 720p game which is what people that are used to consoles play at anyway. You can go over to Dell right now and see their XPS line, which is their Gaming series under the Alienwares, and the basic model comes with a 6450...

![]() White boxes are literally for office workers, grandmas and everyone that can't even change the oil in their car. If you're doing more than that, then prebuilt isn't the way. Also, for sucker corporations that like overpaying, it seems. These boxes are outfitted with such terrible specs that it's no wonder they must be trashed after a short while. They could spend the same money if they knew what they were doing and get them with decent specs. But you know, dell is awesome

These card designed to work with APU in mind, right? Everyone seems to forget these card is Crossfire able with APU. I guess with no new APU they won't made refresh in these product.
Which make me wondering when Trinity will come and what crossfire name this graphic card when works with APU... Last edited by brios_10; Jan 7, 2012 at 09:53 PM. |

If all you want to do is fagbook and twatter and watch youtube vids or email the kids then these are perfectly fine for doing so
(AMD should never have gone down the NV rebadge track) but I'll stick with my 2 HD5770's doin skyrim @ 1920x1080p perfectly playable speeds with eveything on high

And how would you feel being sold one of those on the pretense it's a newer GPU only to find out it's last gen rebrand crap I know how I'd feel and the person selling it would feel it in their nuts

average joes wouldnt know and could care less about that stuff as long as they can plug it in, install drivers and it works. its only the ones like us that do care about it and in this instance its a lower end model. NV on the other hand pulled this shit with the high end model, namely the GF 9 series.
