None of them. From other retro games I like Golden Axe, Prince of Persia, Test Drive 1987 and Airborne Ranger.

Scorched earth.

The rest of those games falter, because every single one has been replicated with more modern graphics, higher visual quality, and better overall polish. Whether homage, or thievery, this makes the originals difficult to go back to. My nostalgia is often blunted by the, by today's standards, relatively harsh aging these games undergo.

Scorched earth may have worms competing with it, but it really can't be replicated. Otherwise, I would have to say all of these games have nostalgic rings, which are hollow if you actually listen to them.

No... A bud light!

Scorched Earth is the best game on that list -so many days in middle school were spent playing that with my friends. Maybe it was the gameplay, maybe it was the easily customizable talk files -every computer I've owned since the mid 90s has had this game on it though.

Stunts, Sim Farm, Flashback, GTA1 and 2. Pretty boring list to be honest, and why on earth are all the X-COM games there?

I don't think that the nostalgia rings hollow in these games, as many people have great memories of spending hours playing and enjoying them.

The problem is that if you decide to go back and play them again you are not going to relive the original experience you had when the games were first released on the hardware of the time.

With all the great new Indie games available (for almost free these days), I can't imagine why people would want to go back to playing relics of a bygone era.

I don't know if I agree 100% Kreij, more like 50%

Playing right now, Castle of the Winds!

I have my replayables and my notables. The first group is obvious, I like replaying them. While some may drop off this list over time, there are still games 20+ years old on it. For the notables, it's better to stick with the memories. Either the enjoyment doesn't carry over time, they were pioneer games, or I just don't have the time. But they all had some impact.

Ex: Leisure Suit Larry 1 and 6 are notable, but 7 is replayable. Or GTA 1, 2 vs 3, VC, SA, IV.

“However, the Intel CPU dispatcher does not only check which instruction set is supported by the CPU, it also checks the vendor ID string. If the vendor string is "GenuineIntel" then it uses the optimal code path. If the CPU is not from Intel then, in most cases, it will run the slowest possible version of the code, even if the CPU is fully compatible with a better version. ”

Yeah...Mussels has a point. Unlike watching old film, the experience of replaying old games just doesn't stand up to the test of time. That said, I did just start a game of Daggerfall but that's a machine at work. I would not spend time at home doing so when I could be playing something modern.

Golden axe was the shit! you can fuck up your own team mate and throw him off the edge of the map on some of the stages.

reminds me of the days me and a few mates used to set up a little LAN game in his garage with CoD1 doing some pavlov - game started off good then we all started team killing each other for no reason it was just funny as hell

Seems like a very uninspired and uninformed selection of retro games. I can think of some far better... but that's another thread!

Quest for Glory....When I played it it was Hero's Quest! *shakes cane*

Sierra games got me into PC gaming...Hero's/Space/King's Quest, the Laura Bow games, Leisure Suit Larry, man I loved them all.

how could one forget the 'STRIKE' series made by EA??

I actually found the box for Jungle strike from back in the day when i used to play it on a shitty Intel DX II or SX II.

I managed to get the game working on W7 with a usb floppy drive and it ran perfectly. but i dont think i could ever start the game up again after the first time. I cant remember it having any sound either.

Maybe the series aint as retro or classic as some of the other games, but i sure had a bit of fun playing it
