This sounds interesting. I seem to remember that some company came up with a bridge chip to make AMD & NVIDIA cards work together too and some mobos were released with it. Nothing seems to have come of it though, possibly because of licensing issues. What a shame.

Still, it proves that cards can be totally dissimilar and still work together just fine.

If this proves that sli can be done with different cards ( i believe Nvidia state you can only sli matched cards) then in theory it enables nvidia owners to equal the versatility of AMD/ATI owners (subject to drivers)
It also Proves what a money grabbing bunch of bullshits Nvidia are.(forceing you to buy matched cards for sli)
How many Nvidia card owners would have bought a second card to upgrade to sli (hi-bred sli) in the same way many ati owners crossfired mixed cards such as 6950/6970.
How many card sales did Nvidia/partners lose to ATI due to this
ATI/AMD knew their cards could do this and publicy acknowlaged and supported this and so they " MUST HAVE GAINED SALES"

SHAME ON YOU NVIDIA YOU DESERVE TO LOSE SALES

can this be used on an non-sli Intel based board? such as the P35 or p45

so something like a GTX570 and a GTX280 wouldn't work?

According Steam hardware survey not a single card was lost. And considering all problems Crossfire/SLI have most people prefer single card. ಠ_ಠ

well at the very least it would limit your DX capabilities - DX11 games either wouldnt benefit, or would have to be disabled.
