Deathadder Upgrade

Currently have a Deathadder 1800dpi and have been looking around; What would be a cheap alternative but yet an upgrade?

A4-Tech X7 Oscar. A cheaper build quality (hence cheaper price), but it has programmable buttons and some models can reach 3600dpi. Mine does.

Would this be an upgrade to a MX518? I can get this or order a BNIB MX518 for double. decisions!

Well, on the same level, the market here is saturated with either wireless models or regular ones of premium brands. The X7s are the best I can recommend you for that price point.

That A4-tech mouse is a major downgrade. The sensor in the DeathAdder is still one of the best available. If you like the ergonomics then stick with it, there are only marginal gains from getting a new one. That said both CM Storm and Zowie are coming out with mice based on the same sensor (as the new DeatherAdder, not the original) just perfected in terms of no prediction and lower lift-off distance.

The answer would be no. The X7s have lower quality, compared to a MX518.

i know people who would pay big monies for one of the old DA. Those have one of the best sensors of all time, even the new razer mice have sensors worse than that... people just go crazy about high dpi...

Nah man, we're cool. May still pick it up cause I need a regular mouse for the HTPC rather than a gyro remote.

Just googled some reviews on the A4-Tech X7 and it seems to be a solid mouse for 19$ (25$ with shipping). They compared it to higher $ mice with similar specs and it hung with them and those mice were over the specs of my MX518.

Anybody else have any thoughts?

Their website - http://www.razerzone.com/

you're gonna have to root around for it - its in the downloads section somewhere.

EDIT:

Here it is. You want the NDC one to disable prediction.

It gets way more DPI and freq than my MX518.

I'd just stick with the Deathadder unless its falling apart. "Upgrading" a mice probably wont see much improvement over what you have already, unless you just have loads of money to burn - but then why ask for cheap alternative?

If it's anything like mine, it should be 3600dpi and 1000MHz.
I'm not picky with mouses (mice?). I bought the X7 because I had a strict budget and it was the only gaming mouse was cheap enough. After one year (and a half, I think), no complaints whatsoever. Works like day 1. The programming part is cool, works with most games, although I only program the two buttons on the left. I don't even use a mat for it.

I sure will, I know from experience that reviews are not the true word of how a product will work. Sometimes it takes hands on experience and I will probably get that next monday.

One thing that attracted me to this mouse is the program ability. I HATE logitech's software they use with their mouses. I never could get it to work right with my MX518 so I just plugged it in without the software and never looked back.

Figured if I can get one a little nicer for cheap I'll just use it on my gaming system.
