I did, but it didn't work. 8800GTS 320mb (G80) + GTS250. My screen went black, rebooted the PC many times but windows didn't load until i took the 8800GTS out.
I'll try tomorrow in another PC (where i don't mind if i screw things up, my sig PC is too new to use it as a guinea pig) more tests with the G80.

I did manage to SLI a 9800GT with a GTS250, but with GTX570 i got nothing but BSOD.

I think this will only work with same core or similar cards, like AMD crossfire does. So far i saw this work with GTX570 + GTX580, 9800GT + GTS250, GTX460 + GTX560. All those card have the same core, or too similar (the specs of the GTX460 and GTX560 cores are the same according to the charts)

thats what i was starting to suspect, that different memory bus width, shader count, and clock speeds can be accounted for - but it still needs the same GPU design/generation

Yeah, too bad we can't SLI what we want, but this gives us more flexibility to SLI cards.

damn straight, its still a great improvement. we just need to make some good lists of what cards are compatible and what arent.

It seems the "best-case" (in many ways) scenario would be being able to make it work in a 590+580 config.

We tried yesterday to run gtx580 + gtx470. After applying the SLI configuration - BSOD. Tried to make 470 leading through MSI Afterburner, the same result.

GTX460+GT240 also results in an x7E stop code.

Going to try and attach the display to the gt240 and will report back.

Tried shuffling the cards and switching the display between the 2. No go, pretty sure the gpu core has to be semi similar.

Would this allow you to SLI two cards that currently don't support SLI at all? For example: 2x GT240's.

Test it out. I was almost there but I beleive it was the cores that were too indifferent.

How are the cards load balanced when using this?

If using a 580/560, do you still see 99% usage on both gpu's?
