Yes, I'll wait for Kepler...

So that it would be Maxwell that I would be waiting for next.

Hmm, I can't vote. My GTX 580 is going to be bandwidth limited when i move to a larger res monitor (currently 1.4-1.5GB usage in BF3 at 1920x1200) so my card isn't powerful enough for maximum gfx effects at higher res.
I also haven't decided to switch yet. I'll be water cooling so the shortage of blocks means i'm holding off but if something concrete comes out before end of Feb regarding Kepler, I'll make my choices then.
So my vote is undecided.

Wait, it seems pointless to constantly buy the new when the old works just as I need it to.

Definitely going to wait for it. My current card is fine for all I currently play, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna skip these new gen cards, just that it is sensible to wait.

My GTX 580 is running just fine, so I don't need to spend so much money on a HD 7970, which is only a bit better at stock speeds. Plus, I use 3D Vision and don't want to lose that feature.

I'll wait for nvidia's next top-end model and make a decision then.

I can't be bothered to care, and there's one simple reason.

Next Nintendo console comes out Holiday season 2012. Next Microsoft console comes out in 2013 at earliest. Sony has no plans to release a new console yet.

As bad as it is to say, the consoles need to have dx11 support before we'll see it embraced on the PC side. That, combined with the already very powerful card (for my resolution) I've got, has made it difficult to justify a card this generation.

All of this said, by the next generation I will be looking at a new card. PCI-e version 3 will be the standard, and I've got plenty of lanes to populate. One of the only benefits to the 2011 socket.

SLi'd GTX 470's are working great for me, I see no need to upgraded right now.
I'll wait till I can't keep the eye candy turned up and decide then.

No reason to upgrade at the moment, while 7970 performance is good it doesn't give that edge needed to play current games, the reason has been explained by the poster above me, until consoles will set the bar higher we don't need much more than we have with series 69xx or 5xx.
So yes I'll be waiting for kepler and if it's going to deliver atleast as much as a single 6990 in stock then I'll consider it, just to have awesome perf with less heat output.
Oh and Nvidia has AO in the control panel, I'm sad because AMD hasn't, I'll definitely love that in Skyrim.

Given the current state of games the answer is: My GPU is strong enough to let me skip this new generation. But even if I had in mind to buy a new GPU I'd still wait for Kepler to see what's capable of.

HD5870 still going strong, it's in that sweetspot where it only cost me 140€ but can still play almost any game in 1680x1050 with full details and 4xAA.
