Origin... Frostbyte... at first glance of the title I thought this would be something about BF3.

Wonder how long it will take EA to sue Origin PC for taking the name of their game "service"

Frostbite is good. Origin is...well...uhm...not as good.
So the product will be atheistically pleasing, have lots of eye-candy, demanding on the remaining hardware, provide mediocre service, steal your data and remove your ownership from the hardware.
Judgment by association FTW!

Actually Origin Pc was a Game Company lead by Chris Roberts in the late 80s early 90s that made games like Wing Commander but was sadly bought out by EA...Name and trademarks...So I think EA would have a case..

On subject This is one neat looking WC unit....If I had the money I'd prolly buy it cause it would fit my Xiggy Utgard perfectly

Origin PC was founded in 2009. Although EA's Origin service started in 2011, EA owns the trademark of Origin since 1992, when they bought Origin Systems.
EA may be a bad corporation, but they aren't stupid.
But EA won't be able to have a strong case, if they decide to sue Origin PC. Both have different markets. The chances one is affecting the other sales is like saying ol' farmer McDonald is not selling his animals, because McDonalds is using his name to make food that's not healthy. (I think)

If EA's use between 92-09 was low or non-existant, they would likely lose the name to a company that did. Though origin PC, should have filed a claim already if they thought it was going to disrupt their business. EA probably has more time, having "re-invigorated" the origin name for one of their products more recently.

I get the feeling Origin PC may have been taking a jab at EA with "Frostbite" everyone here thought it was an obvious association with Battlefield, they may want the previously abandoned name, or may even want EA to take them to court so they can make a claim to the name based on EA's lack of use or something.

When I seen the title i see Origin and Frostbyte alongside 360 and Ea Origins/Xbox 360 also instantly came to mind. I think that is some risky naming!

So you can't buy it separately? That sucks. Looks so much better than the H80/100 with their little MSN icon guy and the bland gray plastic fan thingy. Honestly a two tone picture of a turd would look better than that shit.

$1600 for a self-contained watercooling system? Who do they think they're kidding. Unless this thing also has a chilling element and is also pre-insulated from condensation, they're going to need to drop the price by more than half. The most I've ever spent on a full watercooling setup (cpu, NB, 2x full coverage GPU) was $500. This Frostbyte thing only handles the CPU.

Mushkin uses Frostbyte as a name for their RAM heatsinks.

Another lawsuit?

The company that did the Wing Commander series was called Origin Systems, Inc. and was founded back in 1983. EA bought it in 1992.

I think that is $1600 starting point for the entire "Genesis" desktop with the Frostbyte.

In such a case, the water block and pump would bottleneck the thermal performance. A custom loop with a cheapo XSPC raystorm pumped by at least a 750lph with 2x 120 rad would beat the hell out of this.

The combination of Origin and the fact that they are using the same name as the most popular EA engine (except 1 letter changed), I don't know much about law. But that seems to be riding the coat tails of EA, working off their promotions.
