Samsung Debuts the Second-Gen Series 9 Ultra-slim Notebooks
Today Samsung Electronics has held a media event in its home country (South Korea) to launch the updated (second generation) Series 9 ultra-thin laptops. Coming in 13.3-inch and 15-inch flavors, these notebooks feature a single-piece aluminum body (just 12.9 mm thick), a SuperBright (400 nits, 1600 x 900) LED-backlit display, a backlit keyboard, and are powered by an Intel Sandy Bridge processor.
![]() Samsung didn't go into details about the 15-inch Series 9 model (it did mention that it weights 1.59 kg / 3.5 lbs) but it did provide a full scoop on the 13.3-inch NT900X3B-A74 notebook (priced at about $2,376 locally), saying that it packs a 1.7 GHz Core i7-2637M processor, Intel HD 3000 graphics, 4 GB of RAM, a 256 GB solid state drive, dual 1.5 W speakers, a 4-in-1 card reader, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, one USB 3.0 ports, a mini HDMI output, and a 6-cell (40 Wh) battery. The 13.3-inch and 15-inch Series 9 laptops are expected to go global later this month, starting at $1,399 and $1,499, respectively. Source: Laptoping |

I have absolutely no faith in Samsung notebooks, however as these come with SSDs it might be a completely different story. I'll be interested to see how these look in other pics.

That 15in laptop is certainly impressive looking, whats battery life going to be like? I would like to carry a 15in notebook in my bag but I hate thick books.

You bought an overpriced Macbook Air from Apple, but since you did buy it you imply that you can "see these selling", yet when it's not Apple it's suddenly "can't see these selling"?

Very very nice looking laptops. And 13" with 1600x900. At last!
Chicks? I can't see any chicks. (This is a rare occasion where the product looks so good, I can look past the girls to see the product. Eyes on the product. Rare moment indeed. Actually, they took "average" babes this time to ensure you DID see the product. These are not quite the quality of some of the booth-babes I have seen on here before...)

Tastes differ though...For that price... gosh... Eurocom where are you(also an insane choice)? At least in from of them I wont be afraid to sneeze at, in order to don't get a crack somewhere. 13' and an high resolution windows device and a huge i7... on 13 inches?? Nah... I'll get a proper workstation and a iOS or Android pad... Transformer prime for example... it will do the same productivity and last longer. Every thing in life has its proper usage - a key or an instrument... this one seems to be fit only as fashion emblem... |

True. So do usage scenarios. And in the case of a laptop, I need a airport warrior, and desktop cousin. Something to sling into the briefcase and take on trips. Or use in bed or sofa when goofing around. My current netbook is perfect in ergonomics and portability, but screen too small for productivity and CPU too weak to be snappy. (Even with SSD). I would rather take this Samsung than try and bootcamp an iAir. Wouldnt you agree?
Anyway, I tracked down some product shots, not distracted by the girls. I think this is one of the nicest if not the nicest laptop I've seen. A combination of the best of SONY and of Apple. SAMSUNG are really stepping up to be a premium brand. A bit like Audi (cars) in the 90's.![]() ![]() ![]() If you speak chingchong there is a video here:

Sorry Samsung but I won't be buying laptops from you any time soon. My current one blew the right speaker after two months, sent it to warranty, they replaced the motherboard, but the speaker is still dead. Not only did they not fix the speaker (which does make some annoying sounds before going mute) they also scratched the laptop when they replaced the motherboard. The microphone is one of the shittiest I've seen on a laptop, and I've owned Acer and Asus laptops. The laptop user manual said the screen resolution was 900p which ultimately made me purchase it only to discover it's only 768p. This is the last Samsung laptop I'm getting, don't care about them anymore.

Doh! We all know that. Want kind of colloquial dysphemism were you expecting me to use? Surely not invent a word like korinkorong?! Anyway, the more important question is: do you like the new Samsung Second-Gen Series 9 Ultra-slim Notebooks?

They look nice, though I couldn't see myself getting one (or any ultra-thin) anytime soon. If I'm spending $1500, I'll take a bulky, full-featured laptop.
While I travel now and then, it's rarely for business and or on an airplane. They would probably appeal to me if I did. |
