Mass Shipments of Ivy Bridge Delayed to June
In what could come as a disappointment to some, Intel has reportedly put off mass-shipments of its third-generation Core processors (codenamed "Ivy Bridge") to June. The company, however, will go ahead with its April launch schedule, and will issue small shipments of these chips. This information comes from sources among notebook manufacturers.
This delay, however, doesn't appear to be linked to Intel's ability to ship the new 22 nm chips. Sources say that most notebooks vendors are having a very hard time digesting inventories of current-generation "Sandy Bridge" Core processors, and so the delay is merely to help them ship the last of their notebooks running current-generation chips, and to minimize the impact of the onset of new chips. Notebook vendors are currently seeing lukewarm demand. ![]() Source: DigiTimes, Image Courtesy: LegitReviews |

Yeah, I hope this won't delay the sale of the retail/OEM sales of these processors. I can understand them wanting to give their partners more time for the public to digest pre-built machines with Sandy Bridge, but no reason to penalize those who don't look at pre-built in the first place.

I'm disappointed, but it makes me feel better to hang onto my 2600K longer as I just bought it in October.

Same deal, I'm pinch'n my pennies in an effort to cobble a rig together in the time for the release. This just give me more time to save, and more time for the 7870 release inflation to disappear. It's kinda a win-win for me

Awwwww,….Damn it!
First there seems to be little to no retail availability of the Core i7 3930K Sandy Bridge-E and now my fallback, the Core i7 3770 Ivy Bridge will probably play hard to get too,…. |

The notebook vendors should lower the prices or give them for free if they are not able to clean the inventory and Intel should release to the masses, those few who still build PCs, the Ivy in April.

when nerds cry
Too much awesome at too close an interval......and NO COMPETITION!!!!!!!!!!!! At tick tocks's current rate Amd will be a decade behind in no time. So now i gotta wait....or just build a 2011 rig ...intel competing against itself is a nightmare.

:( Sad
Why god, why? Omg, after long hours and days of pushing myself to postpone new desktop buy I was kinda ready to somehow stay alive to the april. And now this? Damn, I wanted Z77, but Im probably gonna go for the Z68 and some Gxx Sandy temporarily. Peace in heart for so much ppl in similar position to mine.

This is annoying but according to Bit-Tech (UK) the delay may not apply to desktop processors. Let's hope so!

According to VR-Zone it's the same. Won't affect Desktop CPU's.
