Hopefully they dont do that because i can get the 360 version used for 12.99 from my local store. >_>

Good news everybody!!!

Alan Wake to be self-published by Remedy, will use Steamworks – not GFWL

The game plays like a dream fully maxed with full AA/AF @1920x1080, below 60fps with my card but smooth as silk. It's awesome and I'm glad they decided to finally bring it to PC, can't wait to get to the DLC that I never tried when I had it on the 360.

Downloaded from steam but wont play?

It plays the intro but gets stuck on the loading screen for the first episode.

Also getting random - "this game is not ready messages" when trying to start it.

Never had steam problems before goddamit!

It plays super smooth St.Alia, I have really enjoyed it and seems to be a very nice PC friendly game. (For Once)

Really enjoying it, picked it up a key at GreenmanGaming and downloaded it via steam.

Works great maxed out super smooth, everything looks nice but textures seem a little low res (IMO).

Would love a texture mod

Story is compelling enough to play, so that is good in my book. Some things seem a little odd and cheesy but if you just go with it, it works out.

Not what I expected, but not bad either. Currently on episode 2. I think EP1 took like and 1.30h-2.15h.

Nice, games which actually have an interesting story are hard to find these days

I knew it would be quality. The 360 version rocked and the PC version is even better!

Plays awful for me at 1080p or 1600p.
I've tried settings on Medium and High(custom also) preset, best my setup managed was 18 and 28 frames respectively.

So the dumbing down of Shadows, SSAO, AA and the usual culprits does make a difference, but not a massive one.

If it was just a matter of disabling say MSAA + FXAA and only choosing one or other, then I'm totally fine with that, just doesn't seem to work.

Maybe if:
You didn't call your parents fags
You didn't call yourself "hacker" on the internet
You learned to spell "awesome" and "assassin"
they might think you are mature enough to get the game. -Davidelmo

I haven't dropped below 30fps once?? Looking at your hardware it should rip the game to shreds. Driver problem or something borking it I would guess, you will get there

You would think..though haven't been able to find anything about the game's performance versus a certain driver version.

Checked out the new application profiles that have Alan Wake crossfire increase - no difference, still bad - so bad that even at low it's only 31 frames!

EDIT: Tried with Crossfire off, and it's about the same performance.
So one 6970 = 30sh at best, and two has no improvement no matter which application profile being used.

Really, the PC version should of been out 2 years ago ?.. so to me it's worth about what a typical 2 year old game is.
