Second-Gen. ASUS Zenbook Ivy Bridge and Kepler Driven

ASUS Zenbook is perhaps the closest the Ultrabook has gone to Apple's MacBook Air in terms of features and aesthetics. Its makers are saving its successor for the Computex spotlight. It is reported that the second-generation Zenbook will be driven by Intel "Ivy Bridge" Core processor, its compatible 7-series platform, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M discrete graphics. It will feature NVIDIA Optimus technology that marshals graphics loads between the discrete GPU and Intel HD 4000 graphics, to minimize power draw when on light graphics loads.

I hope they refined the product as the first iteration was a bit raw.

I do not see the sense of GT640M near Intel HD4000. Can they work together, like crosffireX?

It switches between the GPUs. So for light graphics usage integrated 4000 and for like a game GT640M. It's to save power

Well I mean, I have seen tests and Intel HD4000 seems pretty strong IGP. If GT640M not significantly faster than Intel HD4000 than I do not see the sense of it, unless the two GPU can work together.

On its desktop iteration it's sizeably slower than GT240 and this one's against GT640M.

I would think a 640M ever Kepler based would be good if it got close to a Desktop GT240 DDR5. Seem like a lot of hoops for not a lot bump. Hope the hand-off can be seamless. I'd rather not pay what will probably be handsomely, to play genie pig with this. Then when a good Fusion A series can provide this realm, and with as good maybe better power consumption… why.
