570 to 560 now to 580 or 7950 or wait.

I had a Galaxy 570 and loved it. It was my first Nvidia card in a long time and ran like a champ nothing I threw at it slowed it down. It died last month in a puff of smoke and was replaced by an MSI 560 Hawk. This was to wait for the next generation of cards to be released.

I can no longer wait this card is seeing the infamous "display driver has stopped responding" error left and right. My 570 saw this error maybe once or twice a day in browsers but not to the extent it is hitting this card. I get a 1 in 3 chance when this hits the system will lockup now with artifacting. Nothing solves that but a hard reboot. The other time it will give the error get a black screen for a few seconds and return. The chance that the game just starts is getting rarer. I have my rma slip in hand and will be shipping this card back. I disabled hardware acceleration in IE I reset the card to stock settings. I just gotta say uncle on this one.

I wonder if I should hold out and see if the next gen cards appear this month? The downside of that is weeks without gaming which I don't know if I will make it through the withdrawals. The other thing I worry about is if the new cards come out and I see the same driver error. I honestly don't want to go back to ATI but I'd hate to just throw down the money for a 580 to see a better card come out in the same price range or lower.

That MSI should be under warranty.

Sounds like a PSU problem to me.

If you have two cards going out the same way, you should look for what is causing the problem.

I have had up to 30 different grafic cards and only ran into one bad one in the bunch.

I would get a reliable psu like corsair or antec 850 watts or up and then get a new card.

Yeah I just replaced the psu after the first card went. I had an Antec CP850 after the card fried I moved to a Corsair 750 (gold80). Everything is at stock speeds right now so it should have been getting enough power. All that it is powering is a blu ray drive, 2 ssd's, 1 velociraptor hd, mobo and video.

Kepler (GK104) Will be releasing soon (GTX680). Plus the 1536 Cuda Cores and the 2Gb memory is correct. The performance will be less then the HD7970 in some tests but more in some others. The HD 7970 will not lower in price all that much if any. This is true because I have had access to these cards and communication with some Nvidia Distributors.
If you really want an upgrade.... I would say a HD 7970 would be a good decision. Otherwise if you prefer Nvidia brand wait a lil longer. Although I give you warning that both companies are not done releasing cards just yet. Including High end ones. Except that won't happen till way later. That is all I am gonna say about that!

Yes, I just reinstalled recently within the past few months. I did that as the display driver error that started showing up after driver updates mid last summer.

-To thebluebumblebee-
It is still under warranty but I purchased it recently enough that I can ship it back. I would rather get a new card then a used refurb at this time.

I have found that the "display error not responding error" IMHO is due to overclocking... or that is what I have noticed with the two ti560's that I have SLI'ed (i have only seen that error when i have overclocked the cards)... I would reset the card to stock and run a game (saints row three seems crash with that error on my SLI's when they are overclocked to 925/4400 from 823/1002 PNY, 900/1002 gigabyte)

I put it down to stock but it still appeared. On sending in the 560 I saw a 570 I had looked at before for $30 more. I'm picking that up for now and getting some breathing room until summer and when I can see what performance the new cards hold or don't.

ASUS ENGTX570 DCII/2DIS/1280MD5 GeForce GTX 570 (F...

If this one fails as well I guess I will make a play for a 680 at that point.

TheMailman78 and Reayth both just got one of those cards each, and seem very very happy with them. Good choice!

I would recommend either a Radeon HD 7870 or 7950, if Kepler doesn't soundly beat them in the price range.

I think I must have got lucky as it was $350 when I first looked at it a couple weeks back. When I bought it last night the card was $280 and now it has gone up to $299.99 so I'm crossing my fingers.

So far so good no artifacts showing up on the few games I've tested. Have it running high settings SW:TOR this card is nice and quiet. Can feel a bit of heat but I am really liking the design of this card very heavy duty feeling. I think I will need to get something to give the end a little lift as there is some board sag.
