Annoying monitor flicker

Lines rolling from bottom to top of my screen
quite annoying. I've checked the VGA cable and THAT'S in condition
I managed to get rid of it by changing to 75hz and back (to 60hz), but then it came back after I finished playing battlefield
it's frustrating because I can barely watch videos with it now. It's so distracting

I take it you have a CRT monitor? This isn't clear.

It sounds like your monitor is faulty.

It's an LCD

I forgot to mention it does this only in "text mode"
In "Picture mode" it's fine, but it's too bright for black on white background and reading hurts my eyessss
it was fine in all modes just yesterday though

Put it in picture mode, adjust brightness levels in graphics control panel.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like it's faulty, I'm afraid.

I've seen them do funny things like this at work, where they've got thousands and some inevitably die. Is it under warranty?

el mayo will probably find that this only works temporarily, if the monitor is dying. Still, better than nothing and buys him some time until he can do something about it.
