Good lord, I hope not.
I wouldn't want to play some sequel based on something that destroyed twenty years of world building, just to make some money on new sourcebook sales.
I enjoyed the '2.5' edition rule set used in the original games. It still had the old school feel.
Maybe I'm just getting old.

Yeah, well the 4th indeed brought a lot of changes, considering it moved the timeline by more than a century compared to 3.5.

Still, maybe they would stick with 3.5 (Neverwinter Nights 2).

I think Bioware sold the license to Atari and they lost it to Hasbro so don't get your hopes up for a sequel.

Uh, considering the setting itself has been owned by Hasbro (through Wizards of the Coast) since 1998 (when Baldur's Gate was launched), I don't see how it makes a sequel more or less likely.

Bioware sold it to Atari. when Atari published Neverwinter Nights 2 Hasbro sued and won. Bioware is owned by EA now. a sequel by Bioware will never happen with Dragon Age III in development.

I love absolute statements.... they're so much fun....

I hate the 4th edition, didn't think much of 3.5, but this might be a way to introduce new players to the AD&D world...

If it's anything like the second I'll pass on that.

Why exactly can't a studio develop multiple games at once though? Or after each other?

nothing.. but it won't be a D&D licensed title. Bioware has no interest in using that license.

How can you tell they are updating the site? Wouldn't that cause it to 404?

I doubt they are updating.. it's probably a whole new site.. I would think.. You know?

EDIT: They should have had a redirect setup to send you to a temp site.. So, this doesn't happen... Because nothing ever goes smoothly all the time.. Shit happens...lol

The countdown at BaldursGate.com has finally ended and with it comes the announcement of the Baldur’s Gate Enhanced Edition from Atari and digital distributor Beamdog.

Details are scarce, but if it’s anything like the Witcher’s enhanced editions, then we’re in for a treat. Stay tuned for details.
