new laptop cant find tv over WiDi

my new asus laptop supports WiDi but i cant seem to get it to work.

i have 2 samsung 5000 series 46in led tvs both hard wired to my router.

drivers are installed in the laptop and i have the Intel MWT center installed.

when i go to add device it doesnt give me any options and just goes back to the intel MWT center with no new device added.

i've reinstalled the drivers and it hasnt changed a thing.

anyone know how this shit works?

The TV has to support WiDi, and I'm not sure there are many that actually do, and I'm pretty sure the Samsung 5000 doesn't. So you would need a special WiDi adapter connected to one of the HDMI ports of the TV.

The ethernet port on the TV is there for DLNA streaming, not WiDi.

At this point, I don't think any, I was looking at the 8000 series and even they don't support it. It seems like TV manufacturers have just started announcing that they will be releasing models that support WiDi. I don't know any TV currently on the market that support WiDi natively, at least none in a reasonable price range.

You'd probably just be better off setting up these receivers, they are only $55. Though I think they only do 720p, maybe 1080i, if you want 1080p you'll need the $100 PTV2000.
