F1 2012 To Launch Worldwide in September

Ahead of the first race of the 2012 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP in Melbourne this weekend, Codemasters today announced that F1 2012 will launch worldwide in September for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and PC. F1 2012 is the next game in the award-winning, multi-million selling series from Codemasters as part of an exclusive multi-year deal with Formula One World Championship Limited.

To mark the announcement and introduce one of F1 2012’s new headline features, Codemasters has released a video following F1 2012 Creative Director, Stephen Hood, as he meets the next generation of drivers at the Young Driver Test. Filmed at the Yas Marina Circuit, home of the FORMULA 1 Abu Dhabi GRAND PRIX, Stephen asks if their experience with Codemasters’ FORMULA ONE games has been of benefit as they prepare for a career in the world’s most exciting motorsport in real life.

F1 2012 will introduce a new Young Driver Test mode as one of the headline additions to the series that will take players even closer to the experience of becoming a FORMULA ONE driver. Players will be introduced to the world of FORMULA ONE through a range of tutorials explaining how to handle racing’s most exciting and responsive cars, and challenged to earn a drive from a team for the 2012 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.

In the video, rising star Sam Bird, testing for Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team, says, “I think Codemasters have done a super job of giving regular people a proper insight into what a FORMULA ONE car is like.”

In F1 2012 players will feel the unparalleled thrill of becoming a FORMULA ONE driver with a host of new features, wide-ranging technical and gameplay advancements and extensive competitive and co-operative multiplayer components. F1 2012 will feature all of the official teams, drivers and circuits from the 2012 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP, including the debut of the 2012 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX atAustin,Texasand the return ofGermany’s famous Hockenheim circuit to the calendar.

F1 2012 is set to deliver the most accessible and immersive FORMULA ONE game for fans of all abilities.

F1 2012 is in development at Codemasters Birmingham for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and PC and is available for pre-order ahead of its September worldwide release. Why launch it in September? The F1 season is near the end at that time, IMO it would be far better if the game would be launched now when the season just started...

They can't because they don't know the design of the cars for the next season + drivers switching teams.

games F1 2011 vs F1 2012 - same bugs, same crapy carrier mode, same lamenesses and same graphics. only two new F1 technicaal "must have's" - kers and drs. why they just could not offer DLC right NOW with those 2011-2012 few driver changes, team name changes and minor calendar changes?

maybe coz they want it as realistic as possible and feel like 2012 season, but in september looks too long, if it launched about july its better

GRID was so awesome, well it still is in a way, right? I still play it anyway.

So yeah, definitely GRID 2 would be awseomesauce. I understand about doing a new game every season for the F1, but frankly, I feel this should appeal to a narrower bunch than a game like GRID. Plus, every year? Seriously? They aren't going to sell millions of those. I have F1 2011, I guess it's good if you are really into F1, but it's both too difficult and narrow in terms of gameplay for casual racers.

And someone else made a valid point about the season being almost over. I think the real F1 fans would want to race the cars on the track of the next upcoming track in the actual F1 season, but what good when the game is released near the end of it? They can drive on the track in the game, but with last year's cars...

I'm not sure I like it, Codemasters...

“However, the Intel CPU dispatcher does not only check which instruction set is supported by the CPU, it also checks the vendor ID string. If the vendor string is "GenuineIntel" then it uses the optimal code path. If the CPU is not from Intel then, in most cases, it will run the slowest possible version of the code, even if the CPU is fully compatible with a better version. ”

no, they should call it F1 2010.3 because it is the same game with the same bugs as 2010 with different cars.

I got 2010 and it was a broken bag of fail.

releasing a game yearly is an excuse not to fix game breaking issues with the game and they know it.

they should have released a game and given it regular and healthy seasonal updates. this model would attract more longterm players and community development

Actually F1 2011 is much, much better by all accounts than the 2010 edition. I'm sure 2012 will be well polished. Maybe even moreso than 2011, plus added features. I don't think bugginess should be a factor when looking at newer editions of the game, given that most of the code is now debugged. Only new features need debugging. And of course they charge us the price of a full game for what is essentially new cars on the same tracks, plus a few added features. $50? As I wrote above, for die-hard fans only. And then, die hard fans get to race with mostly last year's cars...

I honestly disagree, I thought that graphically, 2011 was inferior to 2010

the textures and scenery were poorer in every way, the only thing i was improvement on playing both games back to back was the car models

die hard fans play iracing, live for speed, c.a.r.s., or rfactor f1 mod and don't bother with boxes that have codemasters stained on the outside, especially after the poor treatment of 2010, why would anyone give them more money? it just encourages this shitty behavior from more devs.

I agree... Put out a very flawed game the first year, then charge $50 every year for updates. Hm...
