HP Slips Out Info of Upcoming Ivy Bridge and Trinity-Powered Notebooks

Even as Ivy Bridge-powered notebooks are weeks, or even months away, biggies like HP have their designs in order. HP even posted promotional videos of some of its notebooks on YouTube, including in three new Pavilion lines: dv4, dv6, and dv7. The dv4-5000 is a 14-incher with 1366x768 pixels resolution, Core i7-3610QM (2.30 GHz) processor, up to 8 GB memory, GeForce GT 630M 2 GB DDR3 graphics, and up to 1 TB of HDD space.

The dv6-7000 packs a 15.6-inch screen with up to 1366x768 pixels resolution, the same i7-3610QM chip, GeForce GT 630M or GT 650M graphics, up to 2 TB of HDD space, and a little more connectivity than the dv4-5000. Lastly, there's the dv7-7000, with 17.3-inch screen with up to 1920x1080 pixels resolution, GeForce GT 650M graphics, up to 2 TB HDD space, and even more connectivity options. Apart from the three, HP also unveiled Pavilion g4-2000, g6-2000, g7-2000; which are 14-inchers, with 1366x768 pixels resolution, AMD "Trinity" A6 APU or Intel Core processors, AMD Radeon HD 7670M or AMD Radeon HD 7520G + 7670M Dual GPU, and mainstream connectivity.

HP > Dell IMO. Their DV line is at least decent these days, and have half-decent speakers. Not to mention they were more or less the only one to have decent Llano laptops on the llano release.

I strongly disagree, their warranty's (if you can call them that) are almost the worst in the business (only compaq is worse), this is trumped only by the terrible build quality and the cheap parts that makeup their motherboards.

I used to like HP, before I tried to RMA some of their products, and before I had no less than 4 of their printers die in a 2 year span, and they basiclly told me too bad. I used to like them before I purchased one of their laptops, and had all but 1 of the USB ports die inside 6 months, and have them repeatedly ship it back from RMA unfixed until it was no longer under warranty.

I used to like HP before I found out their laptops come loaded with bloatware, and some custom software that MUST be left running in order to maintain warranty coverage.

Is my experience the norm, I would seriously hope not, but it's bad enough no one in my family (including the cousin who works for them) will purchase their products!

HP laptops begins overheating after two years or so. Proper maintenance (dissasembly needed) cures the problem most of the times. Every model applies except nvidia 7000 series chipset, I put those under the heat of a lightbulb to resolder the chip. But after some time the chip will begin giving problems again. It happened in many nvidia 7000 based laptop not only HP

My fav laptop brand is MSI. They have extended warranty and proper build quality in my opinion.

I bet they will still overheat, my sister has a DV6 and it would overheat out of the box, the store and HP refused to fix it, or send her a new laptop even though it was only 4 days old at that point. HP can go suck a giant fat cock. Specs look cool though.

There's a difference.

And eh, if you disable their stupid fan control that lowers fan speed when on hard surfaces (who's idea was that?... the fan runs higher on soft surfaces. go figure how they figure that.)

At the same time I find that odd, as I overclocked my DV6 twice till it died from heat and they took it, and the second time was two months past warranty.

Also, Compaq is owned by HP.

And "worst warranty?" seriously? Toshiba has the same 1 yr warranty, however HP's warranty covers shipping fees, Toshiba charged my grandmother $50 for shipping on her 15.6" laptop when it's harddrive failed.

Retail models of Lenovo fall under the same, as does gateway.

The only retail-sold laptops I've seen with longer warranties were some Asus laptops.

The other day I saw an averatec laptop. Kinda weird. Also I coulnd't disable the touchpad. First laptop ever where I couldn't disable the touchpad, making my customer crazy when writing and accidentally pressing on the touchpad with his palm. Nice uh

I think Samsung also only have 1 year warranties... and Sony. (not sure on the last two as I haven't sold them either.)
