Yes it is, how ever to solve it i think they should have a separate section like the news part and add another part to like the Audio, Video & Home Theater section.

So you would have some thing like

Latest (computer) Posts next to it Latest Headlines
Then under it in two more boxes
Audio, Video & Home Theater section And Buy/Sell/Trade/Giveaway Forum

And any posts that would normally show up in the Latest post would only show up in the Buy/Sell/Trade/Giveaway Forum section

Personally, I can't stand it. I hate it because it's a cheap way to up your post count without contributing anything of substance.

I voted YES.

It pisses me off when i pop in and see the same person/s bumping multiple F/S thread's CONSTANTLY, everyday. You want to get your post count up; CONTRIBUTE to the forum!

IIRC there is supposed to be a rule against just this sort of thing but obviously nobody adheres to it and i guess the mod's are to buisy to keep on top of it regularly? Hopefully some good will come out of this now

I think maybe the only person that should be allowed to bump the thread is the O/P, just a thought

I'm guilty. I have been know to bump the threads of people who I have bought, sold, or traded to (and the have been quiet a few people I have dealt with on here). I haven't done it on a daily basis, but I have done it as sort of a thanks for the deals type of thing.

And I am sorry if I offended anyone with the bumping.

I don't think we should drag post count into this- it's about as useless a metric as someones WEI score.

It happens all the time and I pay little attention to it. I am more annoyed when a conversation is created in the thread instead of using PM's like we are suppose to. Then the thread does not need to be bumped and it never drops.

Bumping lots of threads at one time defeats the purpose of bumping a thread. I think generally related posts should be allowed and only bumps by the seller.

How about showing the bst threads in a separate list? Then people can bump them as much as they want and it won't matter.

This is why i went to w1zzard and asked if the post count could be removed from the FS section Maybe that alone would help even "more experienced" members to stop. (not to mention those who sign up just to sell here)

In reality this thread alone I think is enough to curb the actions. It isn't like long standing members here don't try to help and would likely point out to those who missed this thread that they should have a look. I would really think that once they saw that it is something that their "friends" have an issue with, they would just curb the activity out of respect for TPU.

As a first attempt, I'm with Peet (and I think the other mods are too). We would love to see the community self-regulate this and let other people know if they are overbumping (tactfully of couse) so that we don't have to change anything or control it through moderation.

How about something simple ... if you see FS threads in the top 10 recent posts, wait a little while until several other tech topic posts move to the top before doing another FS bump?

I know you are all just trying to help out your friends and fellow members, but if legitimate sales question bumps a thread, and it get buried in a "wall of bumps", it makes it harder for the person you are trying to help notice the thread update.

Is there anyways to put a third box between "latest posts" and "Lastest Headlines" that is only for BST threads. This will show the current bumped FS/FT threads in the middle

If we can't be trusted to change our own thread titles, how can we be trusted to regulate this? We've already been trained to "let the mods handle it" when it comes to anything in the BST.

Mods are here to deal with ANY issues you may have.

I think the rules need to explicitly state a limit on the number of threads you can bump within a certain timeframe, as it does for your own FS posts(one bump every 24 hours). Perhaps 3-5 would be OK, but still, at the same time, if 5 people bump 5 different threads each, that still floods new post listings with FS threads.

Just spin the FS forum section off to it's own site, like GN, and none of this is an issue.

Absofuckinglutely. There is nothing like you bumping your FS thread, then some random person bumping FS threads does it an hour later. I mean thanks, but, whats the point?

Leave bumping for the OP ONLY. 1 /24 hours. Done.

Please be sure that you don't have a million friends bump for you either, or it may also result in infractions. Let's keep the threads full of legitimate bumps and questions ONLY!
Ne real mention about bumping other people's threads...merely the implication that if your thread gets bumped, YOU may be the one receiving the infraction.

Or, you could interpret that to read the OP can bump only, which makes me more happy, for sure. Either way, becuase it can be interpreted in different ways, clearly it needs some clarification, because currently over 60% of the people that have responded to the poll think the current way things are done is annoying.

idk about you guys, but the simple "friendly bump" idea is what I don't like. I would put a rule that there are no bumps for other people allowed. Then slowly enforce it. One thing that is obvious that should be done is all the post count from BST should not be counted

And yea, BST shouldn't be in the latest posts

I personally don't get bothered by it much, but I still think the whole idea could be tweaked to be better.
