Advices on new gaming PC?
Heya all! I would like to buy a new PC, since the one that Im using right now it's like 3 years old.
I've been using Intel and nVidia all the time, but I don't know if right now AMD might be the best bang for the buck (for CPU & GPU) so im open to advices! So, here's the build: CPU: Core i5 2500k MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP UD3 GPU: EVGA GTX 560 Ti 1GB Memory: G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1866 Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 922 Monitor: ASUS VH236H Black 23" 2ms Full HD Widescreen LCD Patriot Pyro SE PPSE120GS25SSDR 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive Basically, that's what I picked, I would like to know if going for a 750W Corsair PSU is more than enough for that build. I already got a 1TB HDD SATA III 6.0. Also, I might be able to get an i7 2600 for the price of the i5, the thing is that I don't know if it's worth since the i7 isn't unlocked and I would like to OC. Also, I choose Gigabyte MOBO, but again, if theres something better (ASUS, EVGA perhaps?) im open to advices! Thx a lot for your help guys!

i7 has no benefit in gaming and that build looks great. except. get the gtx 560 ti 448 core. or if u can afford it newegg is having a sale on the zotac gtx 580, $380 free ship no tax.
also the asus vs248h-p is really the best asus monitor in that price range. and a corsair 650w bronze is plenty for that setup. i5-2500k is plenty for gaming though. if you plan to do video editing grab a 2600. also 1866 speed ram has no extra benefit in gaming. i mean if the ssd is going to be your ONLY hard drive, then yeah it would help make everything all around snappier. but if u plan to have your games on a regular 7200rpm hard drive then 1333 ram is just as good as 1866 for gaming. again if multitask then 1866 is fine. The power supply is more than enough.

I would change the board to the GIGABYTE GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
I have this board and I love it, has TONS of features and the sound is something I am most happy with Also Phusius Please do not double or triple post.

Well, I'll be buying the PC probably in the next 2-3 weeks, maybe I could get the new for the z77 and 3570k, what do you guys think? Also, I forgot to mention that I will use that PC mostly for gaming and work on AUTOCAD sometimes.
Thx A LOT for your help guys! ![]() EDIT: BTW no amd for GPU/CPU then? |

Well, for the most part AMD CPUs can't compete against the i5-2500k in gaming. AMD's 8 core CPUs are okay for multitasking, rendering, encoding and the like where all 8 cores get used, but it looses to a Pentium in old single/dual threaded games, an i5 in most modern games, and loses to an i7 in just about everything. There is the bright side that there is a chance that the socket will be supported longer, but no guarantee, so unless you just strongly prefer AMD, Intel is a better option.
GPU wise, the newer AMD GPUs have a much better performance/ watt than most nvidia GPUs( save for the 680) and support more features, overclock well, and are good, given the price drop on the gtx 500 series it is much up to preference and whether you will OC your GPU. |

Well, I'm not sure it will hit quite that low but the Radeon HD 7850, gtx 570 are around there I believe, and you might find a good used card

Instead of that card, this 560Ti with 448 core is the best bang for buck available:
EVGA 012-P3-2066-KR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 448... 230$ with rebate. |

Although new to the forums myself, I would add that while the 560Ti 448cores is a phenomenal card, especially at the price (performance on par with a stock 570), you may be limited to one card as I have heard many places that it is considered limited edition, so finding a second one down the road for SLI may be impossible... Something to consider.
