Desktop Core i3 "Ivy Bridge" CPUs Won't Arrive till Q3
Although Intel will launch its first 3rd Generation Core processor family, based on the 22 nm "Ivy Bridge" silicon, towards the end of this month, it will not be in a position to launch Core i3 desktop processors until Q3. These include 3.40 GHz Core i3-3240, the 3.00 GHz Core i3-3240T, the 3.30 GHz Core i3-3225, the 3.30 GHz Core i3-3220 (slower IGP) and the 2.80 GHz Core i3-3220T. All these chips pack two cores, four threads (with HyperThreading enabled), and 3 MB of L3 cache.
The standard models have 55W TDP, with the energy-efficient "T" models bearing just 35W rated TDP. Introduction of these chips was originally slated for June, but the delay to Q3 may have been caused due to a variety of factors, such as undigested inventories of current-generation chips or even lack of 22 nm production volumes (with a bulk of them being allocated to mobile chips). Q3 begins in July. ![]() Source: VR-Zone |

So Trinity will land before the IB i3's probably? May be good news for AMD depending on Trinity's performance.

The SB i3 chips all have awesome price/performance ratios and they will be still quite competitive 6 months from now (except the IGP part).

That'd be my guess, I'm sure the i3's will still be decent HTPC CPUs at the least when they come out.

They almost always come even later than i3s, so if the i3s would be Q3, then they would be Q4.

Given that, it almost sounds like Intel is intentionally giving away the low end market to Trinity if it performs... Oh wait, Intel needs AMD to survive, monopoly and all. That or they're just not worried about it whatsoever... eh.

intel want to improve a little GPU reputation
so they are giving i5 ivy bridge gpu a full quarter to tease users with expensive hd4000 part and then they will release i3 with weak hd2500 part, and pentiums/celerons even worse gpu they can't make hd4000 as basic part for all integrated cpu's intel can afford themself to sell integrated crap to customers thanks for years of marketing |

The days of clocking dual cores 4ghz+ is gone, thanks a lot for the performance lead Intel, suck my balls for what you have done to low end and mainstream overclockers!

Yeah, Intel really shafted their lower end mainstream chips in terms of OCing. It is kind of lame that you need to invest in a SB-E to have some flexibility in the bclk on SB. Not to say I don't love my SB-E build, but a flexible bclk could have sold me on waiting for IVB.
