ebay banzai! place bets now! (hd6950)

*No ebay links*

just found this on ebay.

Personally failure on cold boot suggests a psu issue not a gfx card issue.

Quote:
I'm selling faulty Radeon hd6950.
After motherboard upgrade I'm having problems with random restarts or no video signal on cold boot.
Card sometimes is working fine after few restarsts- not overheating, running latest games on high specs with no problem.. I don't know what's wrong with it, hence card is being sold as FAULTY.
anyone think it's worth a gamble?

Idk worth a shot I would't go more then 100 bucks on it
if it turns out not to be a power issue you can try baking it

perhaps but i already own a HD6950 that's been modded. A second one cheap would put me in a decent situation graphically. Since that is an older revision reference design card with dual bios, i could unlock it and have 2 similar cards in crossfire.

There is no way in hell i'll pay over the odds. It just seems odd that the guy hasn't rma'd it.

It leaves me thinking 2 things. Either is dead and he knows it.

Or he's a retard. The spelling mistakes in the listing also help with this assumption.

I may ask him a question regarding the listing.

"when the card/system crashes does the gpu fan spin up to full speed and make a lot of noise?"

It's a fairly innocent question but if it does then it sets my mind at ease as the card is suffering from power loss and not a hardware crash. A hardware crash would black screen to a dead system with a total shutdown, Powerless goes into safe gpu cool down.

Also i believe asus offer 3 year warranty on GPU's. A few minutes on the phone with them i could get an rma. It'd be pretty easy to say i got the card for my birthday from my grandmother who recently passed away so i have no access to a receipt. (no shame).

Sounds to me like possibly the sellers PCI-E slot is having a hard time initializing on his motherboard.
