awesome
![]() if this does indeed come out... does that finally prove the 680 was/is a mid range card with a high price tag? only time will tell if this is in fact true.... and not something made up.

It 'a very successful GPU and NVIDIA want to invest good money.
I am sure that they are already preparing, as there was the GTX 280 - 285. Sources seem quite reliable. |

$599 and a price drop would be a game changer!

how does it have 33% more shaders, double the ram and the bus, and is only 25% faster?

No. It's always this way with pcs. Especially cards. You can add 15% more shaders but you're only going to get a 5% boost out of that. Just look at the 7950/7970 clock for clock.

Nvidia getting a 25% improvement over 33% more shaders and a wider memory bus is pretty impressive. If they priced this at $599, or $550 ad knocked everything down $50, they would crush AMD if they still refused to lower their prices at that point.

Also, according to me, the HD7800 series DIE is the actual winner in this entire series. It's amazing, perfect, I believe if AMD had worked a month or two more on fine tuning it further, heck if they released the HD7870 as this: - 1200MHz Core - 1700MHz Memory (use 7GT/s chips already!) The card would actually have left HD7970 in the dust, while being a HELL lot cheaper, to consumers and AMD as well. |

25% improvement at stock clocks seems very possible and is what I would expect for a flagship card.

512bits seems such a waste of die for me 384bits and 6gbs gdd5 could provide already enough bandwidth for such beast.

awwww this looks bad for my 680. maybe I should sell mine off and just borrow a 6850 or something from my friend who doesn't use it anymore. and just buy this.

We'll see what will going to do after the GTX690. In theory they should present this alleged GTX 685 and then the GTX690.

It shouldn't be labeled GTX 685 as with the GF11x started the 5xx series, I don't see why the GK11x would not start the 7xx series.

That's more likely, but we won't see these cards until at earliest the holiday season this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia released GK110 as the 7xx series, then just rebadged GK104 as the lower end 7xx series cards at lower price points.
