No. This game isn't a part of the "regular" dirt series. It's not very hard to tick the link in the OP and see what the game is about.

Me personally, I can't really stand gymkana, hoonigan, whatever. I'm interested in this game due to the 8 ball and demo derby stuff. Something I've been wanting since Race Driver GRID came out.

Welcome to a new kind of DiRT.
DiRT Showdown is the new arcade racing game from the team that brought you the award-winning DiRT series, uncaged in 2012. Pick up and play controls combine with electrifying events, frenzied crowds and stunning graphics to deliver high octane, dive in and drive thrills from event one.

SPEED, STYLE AND DESTRUCTION – LET LOOSE ON A TOUR OF MOTORISED MAYHEM:

NO HOLDS BARRED RACING EVENTS - Trade paint and use nitrous to blast past rivals in DiRT Showdown’s racing modes. Courses are littered with obstacles, pinch points, multiple-routes and ramps to deliver adrenaline-fuelled racing across spectacular courses.

BONE CRUNCHING DEMOLITION DERBY EVENTS - Crash, smash and bash your way through a range of demolition derby events, pushing our stunning damage engine to its spectacular limits.

EDGE OF CONTROL HOONIGAN EVENTS - A new accessible handling system lets you go wild in free-roaming, freestyle stunt parks. Compounds flooded with obstacles play host to a range of new challenges, from performing trick runs to competitive stunt events, explorations challenges and more.

DiRT Showdown comes with phenomenal graphical performance, bone-jarring damage, and social online and split-screen multiplayer as standard. Welcome to DiRT Showdown - a new world of driving delirium.
No rally. That's for DiRT 4... Of course if Codemasters released a DiRT 4 already people would be moaning about that. They really should of called this game GRID showdown, but I guess the DiRT name is more recognizeable.

Hopefully the demo will consist of demo derby and/or the 8 ball races. If it's just "hoonigan" or whatever it's going to be a demo failure for sure.

I could only find that it's out May, 1st. No specific time.

Btw, it has been confirmed that this game will use Steamworks on the PC, which means...no GFWL.

Yey?

Personally I'm looking for a modern day

1st and 2nd of that game gave rise to these types of games, I still have fun play those 2 titles, and theres been other games like them (but a bit more wild) like Motorstorm or FlatOut that I have enjoyed, but they were a bit too outlandish to see them as a modern day Destruction Derby.

yes yay! GFWL was always buggy on my PC and seemed to slow down game load times. I have a better chance of buying it now that it is going to be out for steam.

We're currently working with Valve to rectify a last minute problem with the demo and now expect it to go live within the next 24hrs.

But of course there's a "problem" with the PC demo.

I just hope multiplayer is somewhat like GRID. Sure there were problems, but playing people across the world and having fun is what I enjoyed most.
