Memory purchase

I've been needing to add more RAM to my computer because I am in the final month of my school, and I need to be able to render at home. My question is will these:
http://www.amazon.com/Patriot-PVT36G...580180&sr=8-15

work with

Patriot Gamer 2 Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3...

I don't want to take out the 6gb I already have and my motherboard only takes 24gb anyway so I thought 22 would be pretty good anyways. Thanks in advance guys!

I'm pretty sure that you would be better off with another 3x2GB kit (total 12GB) with the same spec's or a 3x4GB kit (total 18GB)... your board is triple channel so ram should be changed out/added in three's or you lose performance

Also, check your board spec's to see if 8GB sticks are supported... it may only support 4GB sticks (6x4GB= 24GB)

The only problem with that and Im fine just grabbing the same set for 12 but how well will it render is my only concern..

our labs support quad or 8 core intel processors and 24gb of ddr3 1333 ram

even sometimes those can't render well at all..

With a triple channel board you are better off sticking with triple channel memory or you will lose some performance regardless of the amount of ram used.

For rendering, you can check with other X58 board owners who do the same work to see if there are any specific system tweaks that can be done to improve your rendering speed/performance. Those who know such things may chime in on this thread or you can post a new thread asking about rendering performance improvements on an X58 system

i prefer buy bigger memory if you dont need the fastest ram
but if your board support triple channel buy triple channel ram so you could have the advantage of triple channel

I've read more into my motherboard and it seems like it can only support up to 6gb in each slot, and they don't sell triple channel at all the stores I've been to today so I would like some suggestions, preferably not to pricey thanks guys

currently Im looking at :
http://www.amazon.com/Patriot-PC3-12...653831&sr=1-15

I cant find the same pair I have for cheaper than 200 maybe Im looking in the wrong place I don't know
