USB 3.0 Question

I have just bought a Corsair Obsidian 800D and it has there USB 3.0 upgrade. But from what I have been seeing by looking online is in order to utlize the usb 3.0 on the front pannel you have to plug the connectors into the back of you motherboard or they include a connector to convert the USB 3.0 back to the 2.0 connctor on the motherboard. my question is there ant female USB 3.0 connectors into the USB 3.0 "brick" that plugs into the motherboard port?

I think you're looking for the Lian Li UC-01 USB 3.0 to 20-pin converter.

I bought this one (attach) for my Corsair Obsidian 650D. It has 19 pins: not 20.

The USB 3.0 motherboard header is a 20-pin layout with 1 pin removed. The plug on the adapter may or may not have 1 hole filled.

Pulling this back up because I need one that goes the other way.

I've got a USB 3.0 add in card and got a front panel USB 3.0 for my case that takes up one of the 5.25 slots. It has the 20 pin output and I need one to change it to a normal USB 3.0 external port. I can't seem to find one to save my life.

Any help would be appreciated.

ok so You have a PCI Express USB 3.0 Card that has External Ports on the PCI Bracket?

You also have a 5.25 bay port which has the standardized motherboard connector.

Are You saying you need to convert the 5.25 20 pin connector to a USB A style connector so you can hook it to the PCI Express USB 3.0 Card? Basically making it a Pass through Cable

Any of these work for your purpose?

If i understood you correctly, you already have the 19 pin on that add in card but have no way to hook it up to the board, correct?

EDIT

How about these?

Is you add in card like this?

That is the add in I have. I got it off the CM store. They also list an adapter, but I've yet to see it listed as in stock and can't seem to find any others.

There's something wrong, dude: just checked your board and it doesn't have USB 3.0 No wonder you can't hook it up!

You'll need something like these:

http://www.akasa.co.uk/update.php?tp...el=AK-PCCU3-02

http://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-EC..._2?ref=prid-20

Then you'll have where to connect that 19 pin from the add in card.

That's why I got one of these: USB 3.0 add in card

Want to hook up front panel to that card, but don't have an adapter to change 20 pin to 2 external usb.

You bought an external USB 3.0 add in card but you needed one that had internal USB 3.0, like this one.

To use the one you got, you would need an adapter like the one i posted in post #4 but you'll need the 19 pins instead of the 19 pin holes.

This is a pic of my board (lower right side). You'll need a connector like those:

That's where i hooked up my connector to get my front USB 3.0 working.

I bought the add in card a few months ago. At the time I didn't intend to get a front bay panel.

You'll have USB 3.0 on the rear of your PC but not on the front: couldn't find any cables to convert your 19 pin hole cable to be able to hook it up to your board

If you update your board (should you need to) and it already has USB 3.0 such as those in my board (pic in my previous post), you'll be able to add another 2 USB ports to it.

This, but it is in the UK and made by Cooltek: USB3 Adaptor Internal Header to External Cables
Spoiler

Or, you can get this (Silverstone Tek EC01-P PCI Express Card with USB 3.0 Internal 19-pin Dual Port Connector)or equivalent, if you have the 19/20 pin connector.
Spoiler

They make something for just about every need.

he needs a 20 pin USB 3.0 Male Connector (Metal Pins) that goes to a USB 3.0 A connector so he can hook up 2 ports from his card and pass it through the case to the front.

Hey I Found the thing he needs

http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=6791

if you cant find it online see if cables to go will fabricate the USB 3.0 Male Box Header with the 2 USB 3.0 A Male Connectors

Edit I found the same thing 95 Viper Provided

and HTC He can always drill a Hole in the case or remove a PCI Cover Bracket.

Ive Modified Computer Cases Before To Give People what they wanted, such as Extra USB Ports when the case didnt have them etc

Hadn't thought about removing the PCI cover bracket

Still, there's the length of both cables to consider when confronted with the size of the dude's case.

I'm just using the water cooling holes out the top to thread the two cables through to out the back.

do some measurements from the tip of the 5.25 adapter (bear in mind im sure u want to manage that cable too) to the watercooling hole then take a measurement from the water cooling hole to the PCIE USB 3.0 Card to determine what length of cable you need, but in all honesty it might be easier to get in a PCI Cover Panel
