NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 670 Short PCB Pictured Up Close
Thanks to the impressive power-draw and temperature figures its GeForce GTX 680 could come up with, NVIDIA's newest SKU based on the 28 nm GK104 silicon, the GeForce GTX 670, will feature a compact PCB. The reverse side of this PCB was first pictured on a Colorful-branded graphics card. A picture of its obverse side was posted earlier today. In comparison to the GTX 680, the GTX 670 PCB is quite short. The eight GDDR5 memory chips are distributed between both the sides, these chips are wired to the GPU over a 256-bit wide memory interface. The VRM area is pushed towards the front-end of the PCB. It consists of a 4+2 phase design. The card draws power from two 6-pin PCIe power connectors. Display outputs include two dual-link DVI, and one each of HDMI and DisplayPort. There are two SLI bridge connectors, giving it 4-way SLI capability.

That is sooo weird looking. I'm not complaining, it's just that we are so used to seeing foot long video cards.

Yeah but Macs have their own proprietary thing going on. I'm talking about folks who build their own rigs. You don't see that everyday, especially on a high end card. But I agree, that Mac video card is funky looking too, how the heatsink is positioned.

Without the the heatsink it is about the size of a mini PCI-E wireless card. Laptops with removable video cards use GPUs like these, but you're right, it isn't for tower. I wonder how the cooler will look for such a short card.

Meh, the 6970's in the iMac is a mobile GPU, it's not actually a 6970 so it doesn't count

This should be able to be made into a low-profile card for slim cases. That would be excellent.

in the preview from tweaktown it was beating the 7970 by a far margin too!

I goes head to head with the 7970 so it's like the last gen when the best AMD card was on par with second NV - 6970/570. I am really surprised, was expecting to be between the 7970 and the 7950. The best part would be it the price would be the same as when the 570 was launched.

Nice reminds me of my old 8800 GTS 320 and i thought that was short for a GPU in this range.

This thing seems a little bit lacking on the VRM dept....
And shoot themselves in the leg by damaging the 680 sales ? I doubt it... |

card , i preffered longer decent vrm style cards as the higher loaded watts forced a bit of quality in the product, i wont be going for a low end 660-70 now anyway for a hybrid physx card as a 560 is a better solution for that imhoit looks like any other 70 quid card with its cooler off does it not
