Thecus Releases Free McAfee VirusScan Module for Select NAS Products

VirusScan, otherwise known as McAfee Antivirus is the best safeguard measure to minimize and prevent virus attacks. With Thecus VirusScan module, users can rest assure that their vital data is protected with advanced features to eliminate possible threats. Thecus NAS now comes with free McAfee VirusScan module for maximum data security.

McAfee is a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel Corporation and is the world's largest dedicated security company, offering industry-leading, award-winning product which is a reason why Thecus decided to partner with them.

Typically computer users already have antivirus software installed on their desktops. But NAS has its specific characteristics which require additional protection. For example, every time a user sends a file to a shared NAS device, there is possibility for spreading virus infection and other malware throughout the storage device, data center, and entire network.

Now Thecus NAS users can enjoy McAfee security for free! VirusScan module is now available on N5550 and TopTower Series, other models will be released soon.

Sadly no. In a recent swedish computer magazine in a shootout McAfee let through more than 50% of the threats they sent on it.

If it's anything like McAfee's PC anti-virus software, this module will put a serious hit on your NAS's throughput, too.

I really don't understand why Intel bought this POS company. And for that price! They could've bought Kaspersky and NOD32 and still have enough cash on hand. What a waste.
