Not true. It is not for sale in Germany and Denmark yet. These are the only places that I checked. I just cancelled my order today since they couldn't tell me when they would have in stock.

Not really. There are cards here but the base prices are higher than they ought to be (supply and demand). The major UK e-tailer has 28 cards listed (14 types in stock) with the cheapest at £430 (not bad tbh). Most of the custom cards are over £500 though which is a terrible price when the GTX 580 customs were about £440 ish at launch - my GTX 580 Lightning was £420.

IMO these should be £380-£450 max (water cooled variants excepted). The most expensive is the Gainward 4GB Phantom at £630. lol...not [If you take the tax off that it still equates to roughly $840]. For giggles, with tax, it's >$1000

So, I think they're supplying Europe first to take as much money from over eager buyers (who don't know any better) before settling on the much more sensibly priced US market.

Christ , more tax calculations, $500 suggested price, add our UK tax level = $600 which is still only £371. Oh dear god.......

Fair enough but understand with such limited stock the prices are inflating like balloons. £600 for a non water cooled single gpu is silly. I have the money to spend but I didn't buy a 680. The perf premium isn't worth it. Remember Nvidia priced it competitively (wisely) against the 7970. It's not a good price anymore. This isn't 580 versus 6970. And I am not detracting from the card - it's a good card. Price sucks tho.

The cards are easy to come by in the UK, generally they are a bit more expensive but that doesn't stop them selling out still.

Still, easy enough to find though.
MicroDirect have some in stock @ £400 Inc VAT for example, took me all of 2 seconds.

If you can get anything in stock (not at the moment) Lambda-tek are generally the cheapest (I've used them once for a RAT7 mouse).

That's true, but when they say in stock they mean it, it's the ordered upon request lark that can cause delays.

"The worse 670 I tested managed 1200MHz core and 6500MHz memory and that was a Palit reference card. The WindForce 3X card I test got far higher."

At those clocks it's well over reference 680 in performance (and for that matter the 7970) for the price you see. They will fly off the shelves.

Sounds extremely impressive, I mentioned in another thread the 670 would be another huge headache for the 7970, but it's wasn't long before I got my head bit off.

Looking at a 670 myself if the price is right.

It was probably me that bit your head off

I dont think the 670 is a problem for the 7970. It overclocks to plus (stock) 680 levels. The 670 is a headache for the 7970 granted but it is a major problem for the 680. Unlike the 570 and Fermi's power issues (most 570's were not to the 580 level) the 670 looks to be a deal breaker for the 680.

I would seriously consider buying a couple and water cooling them*. I would happily buy another 7970 but I know crossfire is far from perfect and sli is a whole lot better.

*but i want to see what GK110 can do.

Absolutely, that is possible too. I guess at the end of the day two options are better than one. If people are getting tired of waiting to find a 680, and/or the 670 does indeed perform "close enough" to the 680/7970 people will jump on it.

Pretty much why I'm waiting on it TBH.
