Well you were quoting LAN_deRf_HA about his statement and replied that you would be unsatified and it only took one for his statment not to be true. So you were that one.

You cant disprove him if you never owned a 670.

The 670 is not going to destroy the 680. Stop trying to hate on it, just because you didn't want to fork out the extra cash for the 680.

it's not hate it's called being good with money (well getting the most from it)

why would I pay $100 more when I can just overclock and get the same performance?

or why would I pay 25% more for at best 10% more performance?

Come on, don't be silly. I don't have to buy something that I know won't satisfy me to prove it. And as I said, I previously bought crippled cards and they just didn't make me happy so I have that experience to go on, I'm not just supposing it.

because thats how it goes. Why would you pay NOW instead of waiting 2 months and paying less for the same perf, when no games really 'need' it.

the 680 isnt a sensible product, neither is the 690. They are overpriced, and they are the fastest. You can now have the 670, which is a bit slower but cheaper.

Also they would probably rather sell you a $400 670 than a $500 680, just looking at that PCB and cooler, that card looks cheap as hell to make.

In the end, though - you are right. This card is REALLY close to the 680, i dont think they intended it that way.

That cheap-looking, but screaming fast 670 reminds me of the situation where one can be sitting at the traffic lights in a rusty POS old banger of a car. Next to him is a shiny boy racer's car and he's got the girlfriend with him, all out to impress her. What he doesn't know, is that under that rusty bonnet, your car is all souped up and really fast. When the lights change, you take off like a bat out of hell and leave him standing! It's almost a dead cert that he'll feel his willy has just shrunk a couple of inches and he'll come tearing after you all furious and road ragey.

Yeah, I was that guy in the crap car. It wasn't a souped up rust bucket, but it was really ordinary and boring-looking and I got the jump on him just as the lights began to change, with two lanes going into one so he couldn't overtake me. It really pissed Boy Racer off and was funny as hell.

I doubt they intended that way it just happened to be, the gtx570 was close to the gtx580 there was enough of a gap to warrant the price gap this is so close nvidia is shooting themselves in the foot

There's no way it can be an accident as they know exactly how it performs when they're developing it. They could easily have reduced the performance more had they wanted to. Why they did that way, only nvidia can answer, but I suspect they just wanted to put the hurt on AMD to stick them firmly in second place and keep them there.

670 is 399$ and 680 is 499$ . 100 dollars cheaper and the performance of 670 are very close to 680's performance , so its unworthy to buy 680 because of 1-5 frames per second . If i had the money i will instantly buy 570 and replace my old and weak 4850
P.S i have look all 4 pages and there is only 1 gay ho have a weaker computer compare to mine and he is using a laptop , i feel depressed now

reminds me of the i7 versus the i5: how do the i7 owners feel when they see that game benchies are equal, with less heat etc.?

Normally the top of the top products are all rationally wrong and compulsive shopping

I will have a 670 soon to test with (Bro in law bought a EVGA), and I'm going to run benchmarks to see what the difference really is when running them on a SB-e system.

You wont see any differences at the same clocks outside of

3DMark 06, 3DMark Vantage, and 3DMark 11. Those are the only benchmarks where many cores make a difference. Quad channel memory doesnt make a difference in most games, so that leaves clockspeed being the only difference (outside of games like Civ or Sup Com which love CPU).

Dont bother.

Apples and oranges my friend. An i5 is much slower than an i7 in terms of encoding and tasks which actually use multiple threads. This is 1 shader disabled and a frame rate loss of as low as 3% in some resolutions at slower clock speeds. Match speeds and the margin decreases further.

This is more like i7 920 vs i7 950, but Intel released them both at the same time, so customers were aware that paying more for the extra stock multi. Customers who waited 30 days knew the 920 could reach the same OCs and perf. The 950 would go higher in some ways, but most enthusiasts bought at least one 920.

That happens for sure! But you end up finding another hobby after a while. For me I used to be big into shooting and competition in IDPA.....then I had my first kid come along and found out I needed to be home more so I started messing with computers......then my second one came along (because I was always home) and computers became to expensive.....then my third came along and now I'm praying for sweet death to take me.

stuff will be auctioned off to make up for the massive bills. wife won't be able to afford a funeral so they'll just dump his body in the nearest ditch where I'll setup a fence and charge each person a dollar to poke him with a stick.

I will use the revenue to buy a 670.

Jesus man.

I don't know what is scarier... the thought of having kids, or the knowledge that MailMan has spawned 3 times. /j

You mistake accidental aspects with the core question: Top end is rarely a good buy unless you are Spielberg arriving late for another chapter of StarWhats vectorizing all nite. And there are 1.000.000 more gamers than encoders, so i7 is outevidenced.

My 5 cents, my friend

My 5 cents, my friend
Look up "let's play" on YouTube. Those same gamers also encode/stream a lot of video. Really you have a point about what is and is not useful to gamers, but I also know top of the line @ a $100 should mean something more than the difference between NV's top end single gpu solutions.

P.S. Mailman good to hear you have more sense when it comes to upgrading. Families are worth the wait for PC upgrades

Just built up my SB-e rig about two months ago, I definitely won't be upgrading anytime soon.
