I'm sure it's someone's avatar... How the hell is it replacing my quote button though. It's doing it even now in this thread.

I'll delete my cookies.

BP, it looks like your browser cache got scrambled. It's odd how clearing the cookies fixed it. Which broswer are you on? I'm on the latest Firefox 9.0.1 and I've never seen this glitch.

I can't figure out why this keeps happening.

It never happened before I started this thread (nearly 5 months ago) but now it's happening fairly regularly.

I have always been using the latest Firefox. Now I'm using version 12.0

And here we go again... this time with the 'contact by yahoo' icon beneath the avatar, I'm getting somebody's signature. This in each and every avatar where there is that button and not just Brandon's!

Yes clearing cookies and running ccleaner fixes it. I'm just tired having to do so several times a week now.. Especially since my sessions start loading really slow after clearing cookies.

I'm just curious what started causing it, it can't be malware can it?

Dan is trolling you.

IE9, and likely other browsers, have an option to clear browser caches on close. That's what I do (everything except cookies) and it prevents any ackwardness on the web (like targeted ads).

I think it has to be something buggy in FireFox. This is not something that is in HTTP/DNS. FireFox is likely building an image list and it is pulling the wrong image in rendering.

possible issues with your connection to the TPUCDN.

the CDN is hosting the static assets for this forum and that's where it pulls the quote buttons, the AIM icons, etc...

you don't have anything like OpenDNS or Google DNS do you? sometimes 3rd party DNS causes some problems with CDNs and many CDNs are working with the DNS providers to resolve that...

also do you have a custom HOSTS file?

adblockers or redirectors like peerguardian, etc often have issues with CDNs as well. those can cause problems like that. I used to use one of those and I had to whitelist a buncha CDN URLs all the time.

I'm using Ghostery...

I'll disable it, and see if the problem recurs..

The url of HD DVD clubhouse one is http://tpucdn.com/forums/images/misc/im_yahoo.gif

I can't check the older AMD one since I'm not seeing it now.

Occasionally the emoticons get scrambled too. At the moment the ones on TPU are fine but those on GN are slightly off (I've seen worse). See image below:

I don't think the 'thumbs down' symbol should be up there...
And the exclamation emoticon is in the place where the 'big grin' is supposed to be. It's url shows as http://www.generalnonsense.net/image...es/biggrin.gif in fact.

And the url of the thumbs down symbol shows up as http://www.generalnonsense.net/image...switchmode.gif

Thanks for messing up my thread (joking it's just that the HDdvd clubhouse image appears every time under your avatar making the avatar column go ultra-wide)

Interesting though, even in your quote, it appears like this:

[ QUOTE=brandonwh64;2637044]I think your links are messed up somehow. the link you just posted for the HDdvd cluhouse is this http://tpucdn.com/forums/images/misc/im_yahoo.gif[/QUOTE ]

wtf...

It's not supposed to be the link for im_yahoo.gif and I'm pretty sure you didn't quote that one...

I don't think I ever visited that clubhouse. I'm going to search for it to check what url their image gives me.
The last post in that clubhouse is dated 2008!!

What's for sure is that this isn't a problem with TPU since I seem to be the only one having this issue. Neither is it a problem with FF since obviously I'm not the only one using FF here...
