Vita - Is it dead?

so I bought my nephew a vita 2 weeks ago and he can't turn it on now, I just get the charging lights and a black screen when I try to turn it on, I looked it up and it seems to be a common problem but I can't get it to work for the life of me, I tried charging it for nearly 6 hours now and it still won't turn on, held the power button and PS button for like 5 minutes each and still dead

anyone had this happen before, is it really dead because I don't have the receipt anymore and it would break his little heart.

Take it back to the store. If you used a debit/credit card to buy it that's good enough proof.

try holding right trigger + home button(PS button) +power button for nearly 15 seconds,recovery menu would come up,there would be options to rebuild the vita database,and restore system.
try these options,these may help.
Try pressing the power buttton at the end of the combo,that usualy works.

I called sony and told them and they say they'll try to replace it still

dead in 2 weeks is not a good sign

i was planning on getting the 3DS but my "friend" said no get a Vita because my nephew had a PSP before this.

Well I love my 3DS. With that being said I wish you luck man! Sounds to me like that Sony Vita is a Sony Pita.

One of my friends has a vita and absolutely loves it, he has had it with no problems for nearly 2 months, had to jump in and defend my company lol

Yes you can bring it back. If you bought it within 30 days most stores will swap it for a replacement with receipt.

By law the shop is supposed to deal a replament ASAP even after the 30 day period and they are supposed to negotiate with Sony if its within the 1-3 year warranty.

Why wait 2 weeks dealing with Sony, when you can get a replacement in store today?

i have vita since april ,and havent faced any problems yet,its a awesome device,just wish sony can tap in the potential it has

Try slashing it into the ground. If it doesn't work, send it to the shop.

I can't speak for physical sony products, but Sony Online Entertainment is just plain awful. If they run other aspects of their company the way SOE is run, then yeah this statement is spot on.
