Why can't we have a thread inbetween "Windows 8 is unbearable" and "Windows 8 is awesome"?
Why do we always have to judge things in extreme ways?

Its like separating soccer fans by teams lol. Honestly though from first impression, I think may be a good idea.

personally I will be sleeping with windows 8 lol. Well Im going to give it a shot once I reformat my re-build. I will not give anymore input until I know more, Busy with my re-build atm.

I think a simpler version of windows is ok, they should have an advanced and a simple one for people to be able to use more easily.. inexperienced users, or those who do not have much time will "like" it more.

I don't really care how it looks, UI can and will be modded (one example is Classic Shell to add the Start Menu again).
As long as the kernel is good I'll probably, finally, move from XP. So far so good, need to test the final release before pulling the trigger.

Its good in terms of what they have done under the hood because it is faster and i like a lot of the new stuff, but idk if metro will survive on the desktop. It will be an amazing UI for phones and tablets.

W8 rocks. W8 sucks. W8 this. W8 that. Yeah yeah whatever.

For me it's just another OS by MS and nothing more. It doesn't make me want to do cartwheels though it doesn't make me sick either. If programs I'm gonna use will require W8 I'll switch else I always can find alternative. I'm not dependent on directx gaming and stuff like that anyway.

i just hope they will do so u can disable the metro ui, and have a start orb instead bcs ino i will get Windows 8, when it comes out, but i won't wanna use it if i can't get does two things bcs the metro confuses me more than it do good for me.

other than that, i hope they have tweaked DMW, explorer and shell more so we won't see memory leaks and crashes like even i got with Windows 7.

gotta agree but I am leaning more towards saying its not for me, for me windows 7 does everything I want so I think I will stick with it like I stuck with XP and for like 5 more fps its still not giving that upgrade feel for me personally.

but with the release of the latest mint I am feeling more inclined to move back to linux for my basic tasks, mint maya is awesome.

That, and DX.
Please MS, do not issue some DX12 and make it exclusive for Win 8
