I use those for my rear L/R, paired with a CS1 Series II center, a PSW10 sub and KRK RP5's for the front L/R. Sounds great.

Yeah, same here. I'd like a pair of audio technica phones but I just don't see the need in it.

There are 2 options missing:
- I use Speakers and Headphones
- I use Home Audio and Headphones

i normally would have chosen the second, but had to shoose home audio system instead

Depends if I'm playing a multiplayer game in which I want to use a mic. Use speakers for anything that I don't have to talk to others.

Headphones+mic is generally a far better and more cost effective solution than headset, and conspicuous by its absence in this poll.

Anytime I'm not using a mic I use speakers, with a mic I use headphones or earphones.
That said I don't uses "gaming" headsets or speakers, generally ones made for music.

Always Dekstop Speaker...
I have ear problem, and my ears will get very hard pain if I use a headset more than 1 hrs.

medical reason, why I never use headset right now.

and I'm working at recording studio, using a Headset to monitoring..wauh it never cross in my mind.
better to use KRK Rokit or Esi nearfield

I use headphones because the Wife typically doesn't want to listen to my games. I've been very satisfied with my Senheiser HD 280 Pro for everything, games, video, and music.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!

I used to have the 2.1 version of this when I was a kid. Dad gave them to me when he went to full-on hardcore speakers. From what I remember they sounded pretty darn good. I think I might still have them around somewhere in the garage. -.- I hope they still work! :O

I had a set of those in the late 90's...Hands down one of the best sets I've ever had...I seriously wish I still had them.

Can "both" be an option? lol..
I just don't get why anyone would want in game chat or coms going through their surround sound and cluttering up game sound..
I like them to be independent.

PS: A trick to not have to wear your headset on your ears.
Just turn the volume up to max and put them around your neck.

I was using the 2.1 black version of those 2003-2011, the volume control malfunctioned and started to give sound to one of the satellite speakers more than the other when I dumped them for a z506.

Desktop Speakers.

4 or 5 years ago I bought Logitech's Z-5500 ( 5.1 ) with an X-Fi Fatal1ty Platinum Sound Card. I've transferred both on 3 PCs. It was the best investment I ever did on PC parts generally.

Nothing else keeps going for so long. Whether it is CPU, GPU or even HDD... I still enjoy top-quality sound on games, movies etc. I gave 500€ back then, but...

I use both actually, but prefer Desktop Speakers. I have 2 logitech sets atm. The X540 5.1 SS 45 watt system and a z623 2.1 200 watt system (hooked up to tv, but when i put the pc on the tv and use hdmi sound it goes to the z623s) I use a headset only for mic purposes as the set sits on my neck. I would like to find a decent clip on mic so i can get rid of my headset.

Err all of the above. Depends on the game/situation

Headset: ASUS Vulcans when I want noise but not want to wake people up or for position critical sounds in multiplayer FPS games..

Desktop speakers: Sonos Pure DAB/iPhone Dock when the kids are away.

External: 7.1 home cinema system when the neighbours are out or they've ticked me off.

if I'm playing single-player, then speakers (2.1 is good enough for me)
if I'm playing an MMO or multiplayer, then a headset for voice chat.
