Samsung's Award-Winning Series 9 Monitor Now Available
Samsung Electronics America Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, today announced that it is now shipping its award-winning Series 9 LED desktop monitor. The culmination of over five years of global market leadership in monitors, the new 27-inch Series 9 incorporates the best that Samsung has to offer, including its exclusive Natural Color Expert technology, which provides a richer viewing experience for graphic artists, photographers, designers and anyone else with a sense of style working with photos and video content.
Starting at $1,199.99, the Series 9 will be available through an exclusive prelaunch with NewEgg from June 1 – June 28 and then through Tiger Direct, MicroCenter, CDW, Buy.com and others from June 29 onwards. “More and more, consumers are demanding products that allow them to better view, edit and share their photos, videos and entertainment content,” said Todd Bouman, vice president of product marketing at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division. “With its sleek, elegant silhouette, coupled with Samsung’s signature best-in-class viewing experience, the Series 9 monitor is a must-have for consumers that want the best in elegant design, stunning display quality and convenient functionality to create the best overall viewing experience possible.” The Samsung Series 9 27" LED Desktop Monitor features a professional-grade PLS panel, Quad HD resolution and Mobile High Definition Link (MHL), allowing users to connect a tablet or smartphone and view videos, images or games from that device. In addition, each Series 9 monitor is individually hand calibrated by Samsung engineers through an hour-long calibration process ensuring that every unit leaving the factory is ready for the ultimate user experience. It was originally announced at CES 2012. For more information, visit the product page. |

Pretty much the new gold standard. Unfortunately I've already sold all my gold so I don't see how I'll be affording this.

Yeah, would love to own one of these but at that price there's no way I can afford it. Heck, that's more expensive than some 30" IPS panels!

I have a couple of "pro" Samsung panels albeit somewhat old. They were half the price of the Eizo IPS of the competition, but the overdriven-non-IPS soon tire your eyes. Never again a TFT that isnt IPS.

Oh hell yeah I'll pay that much for a 3840x2160 panel!!!
Oh... I see what you did there. Quad HD, not Quad Full HD ![]() I suppose it's still pretty nice, but nothing I could jump on until it's cheaper. Pre-order if anyone was interested: SAMSUNG Series 9 S27B970D High Gloss Black/Brushed... |

I remember the stand for Samsung's similar models being quite wobbly. For over a grand I'd expect it to be stable.

When it comes to $1000+, I'm expecting a lot more for my money.

What? $1200 for a 27" 1440p monitor? They mad? Were it 120Hz, then OK, but it's not.

I'm glad someone saw 1920x1080 for the horrible PoS that it is, but I'm worried that it's so damn expensive that nobody'll buy it.

Edit: They're also apparently very environmentally friendly since the monitors are self-assembled without the need of tools or materials; they just magically pop out of the factory.

Let's not mistaken
I'd like to see resolution-wise is 26" or 27" 16:10 4k monitors, ie, WQUXGA (3840×2400, Wide Quad Ultra Extended Graphics Array). Let's hope they continue to add features, at least there's 3 of the features I had mentioned here. ![]() 2 days to be exact.

Here they are refering to Quad HD. HD has a resolution of 1280 x 720. If you double its height and width you get the Samsungs resolution of: 2560 x 1440

I want QFHD in 24" please. That would fit my desk and my lust for resolution perfectly.
PS. I wonder when Apple will release a "retina" cinema display. Probably LONG BEFORE the PC industry pulls their finger out...
