Cyber Power Build.
Hello All! Let me start out by saying that im a total novice at computer building,(theory building, assembling parts, compatibility) that being said, i have a few questions.
I chose to build a computer on "cyber power" Here: (http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1EA2KA) Im thinking i5, 8gb of Ram, 120 SSD (harddrive) 1tb 7200rpm (data drive) GTX 670 graphics card also what about a wireless network card? (connect to internet) wondering if i need some of the extra stuff its telling me like; 120mm fans, anti vibration fan mounts, thermal paste for cpu, hard drive cooling fan, etc. just wondering what you guys would do my budget is 1000-1400 without monitor. Is the gtx 670 the best graphics card in that price with regards to benchmarks? Im looking for a gaming computer btw thanks-rokoki Last edited by Rokoki831; Jul 4, 2012 at 02:37 AM. |

You have 6670 picked when clicked on the link also 1100$ for that build with the 6670 is WAY too much. You should just build a I7-3770K with Z77 which would be just as good.

An X79 build at that budget WTF?
Get a Z77 + i5 3570K instead, then you can get a GTX 670. You can ditch the SSD too.

Agreed, the I7-3770K with Z77 would be just as good. And for your budget that would be a wise decision.I would keep the SSD though.even just a small SSD for your OS makes all the difference.

@jgunning :i dont think they offer those parts through this website. So your suggesting that i buy these parts from another website? Z77 is a motherboard right?
@entropy13: you suggest sacrificing cpu for gpu? (i7 to an i5) (radeon 7850 to gtx 670) Why no to the ssd? doesnt that help load times, bootup for applications? (games) |

Oh, it does help. But if it's priced 100% more, it should be faster by 100% too. But it isn't. Boot times and load times are only faster by 50%-70%. At your budget you should forgo an SSD.

And in addition, storage space is still compromised with SSDs.
Try this: http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1EA2J8

Yes entropy does have a point there.Because you are on a budget an ssd isnt essential, and i agree that the boot times do only increase appr 70%ish.A standard hardrive will do you find really if you need to cut something.

Comments on thermal compound would be to be careful to not apply too much. Anti vibration fan mounts are pointless if you are on a budget.
With questions regarding 802.11 wireless, well 802.11n supports both the 2.4 and 5ghz frequencies so less likely to interfere with things such as telephones, mobiles etc, (2.4ghz devices). But really 802.11n is your best bet. and onboard gigabit ethernet is fine.(if thats what you were asking) |

I haven't done any business with Cyber Power but I would assume that the cost your referring to for the thermal compound would be for upgraded paste and not the stock paste that would be applied to the heatsink if they would be using retail parts. But a company like that is probable buying all OEM parts so they may not have the intel stock heatsink as an option. All in all I wouldn;t believe they would send a computer to a customer without theramal compound.
As a gamer I do not use wireless as wired is more reliable and cable costs really are not that high. Hard Drive fans are over rated. As most newer cases generally have decent airflow. Anti Vibration mounts do cut down on the noise. But its up to you if they're worth the $2 per mount. (idk what Cyber Power charges) Also if your are going to be using this for hardcore gaming then dropping to the i5 and upping it wo a 6xx or 79xx series graphics card would help you. As a gamer myself I have myself a Eyefinity setup and love it in all my games and wouldn't go back to a single screen gaming again. Also what input devices are you going to go with? Over my years of gaming I have used all kinds of equipment. But once I had found Razer I fell in love. I have had two Razer gaming mice last me my last 3 years. and thats because I am fairly hard on mice.
