Has Intel failed?

Forgive me posting this here.Has Intel told us to piss off?
Well, they have the only practical solution in the gaming market (i5 2500k) and the FX-8120 is a known fail. Well, I wonder if Intel will sit on their fat smelly laurels just because they can and we can eat it just because AMD is weak.

Intel Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition...$1,000 Really? Are you insane? Do you people in your board room meetings lol because stupid fools pay top dollar for the latest and the greatest.

On topic:

Here goes another Intel and AMD and I am pissed off post, with a lousy title.

And, they have, always, hit that price point with their unlocked top of the line (at the moment) processor.

Edit:
Edited post because of a ninja edit to opening and second post

Intel's top end processors have always been $1000+
I got mine (when it was the latest processor) for $800 which was a steal at the time.

What are you on about? Intel's top consumer CPU has always been around the $1k mark.

I don't know any sane person that's ever bought one, save for the hardcore benchmarkers, custom case builders, and showpiece PCs.

I beg to differ my friend. i5 2400 is about the best non-oc able CPU and its only $200. This CPU can handle anything I throw at it. If ur saying the i5 is practical cause it can be o/c'ed thats your call, but for the rest of the world the i5 2400/3450 are more than enough for gaming.

That and Amd's procs will run the game without issue. It may not give the absolute max frame rates. but it will run and you will be happy with it. Those that say Amd fx series procs are crap are only relying on benchmarks not real world where it will be just fine. I mean damn it's not that if you have one that you cannot game on it. Hell I game on my x6 at 2.8 with no issues at all.

Sounds to me like someone isn't happy with how much money they make in life.. Here's an idea.. Stop hating, get a job that pays more, and you could get one too.. I mean you might as well be bitching "Aww man, that's BS Lamborghini made another car I can't afford"..
Sounds to me like the OP needs a wambulance...

AMD had $1000 processors back in the early-mid 2000s when they were competitive with Intel's $1000 offerings performance wise.

That's what I mean.

For some reason people feel you can't game on a Amd system. Boy are they so wrong. So what that they won't get the absolute highest frame rates. Doesn't mean the game isn't playable. I mean you think Amd is going to release a cpu to the general public that won't game? That would be suicide for them and they won't do it. They Fx-8150 (Amd's current top offering) can be had for around $200. So yes it will be lacking compared to Intel's $1k top offering. And it should but for $800 less it does a great job. And I think most would be very happy with it.

My Celeron G530 runs basically any game without any problems as well. I got it as a temporary solution but haven't found a reason to replace it so far. Conclusion: Any current processor is fine.

Umm...Intel has always had $1,000 Extreme Edition processors, even when AMD was leading the show(and AMD had $1,000 processors then too).

You don't have to buy the top end to play games you know, especially not in the processor field. Intel still offers very reasonably priced processors that more than handle any game.

4GHz will not do it. You have to push them past 6GHz just to play solitaire.

The P4EE all the way back on socket 478 was released at $999... They've been doing it for a long while now.

Hell they had the Extreme series since the p4 days. I was just looking at a add for a 3.2 P4EE for $999 and that was from a ad in the April 04' Issue of Max pc. The 3.4 was at $1099. Amd's offerings at the time, a Athlon 64 FX51 was at $858 and a Opteron 248 was at $979. Same online store for all prices.
