Won't be playing for a month, when it drops on PC.

As for the walkthrough: thanks, but no thanks. These things kill your fun and should only be resorted to if you are well and truely stumped.

What he said. Who uses walkthroughs. If you need one, why did you play the game in the first place.

I vow to never use a walkthrough. I broke that on some of the truth glyphs in AC2...but we won't speak of that.

When is dawnguard supposed to be out on PC?

I haven't played in a while but have been lurking at the nexus from time to time only to find, there isn't really that much going on.

Probably have to wait till Dawnguard comes out before modders get back into the game.

Idk about you guys but that Shadow fix never really worked for me.. What I ended up doing was turning up:
iShadowMapResolution=6144
Now I finally have smooth outlines on my player shadows, indoors.
I can take a screenshot, I just now figured it out after a couple hours of tinkering in the inis.
All those other res made no difference to my players shadow.

I tried to go higher than that res but anything higher started causing me instant issues.. So far it's running fine and I haven't noticed an fps issue.
I can't vouch for the long term yet.. I wouldn't recommend you try this without an "Ultra" based system.

Also idk, maybe I'm crazy but I think sometimes you might have to move around to get the new shadow setting to kick in.. Likely I'm crazy, or different light sources cast different resolution shadows sometimes.. idk..
Something is odd, that's for sure..
I had perfect shadows in everything else but my players shadows were absolute crap?
Odd..

just get an ENB config and use the new shadow filter it has.

I don't feel like testing if that works.. lol..
I know what I did works. Also I don't think it will be compatible with this new mod.
I didn't know this was out til today but might be a nice mod. ^^

Yeah well Prohject Reality is compadible with ENB. Look in the optionals section of that mod theres an ENB config for it.

And these are my shadow settings that dont have much performance hit, and then I use an ENB for the Per Pixel Shadow filter

iBlurDeferredShadowMask=5
fInteriorShadowDistance=2500.0000
fShadowDistance=4000.0000
iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=4096
iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=8192

Setting your ishadowmapresolution thats lower down in the skyrimprefs file isn't going to really help you all that much other then kill your FPS. what I have posted is your best bet for quality shadows if you dont use a ENB with the shadow filter turned on.

Supposed to be crossbow & vampire mania though.

I remember I read somewhere a guy saying "Don't edit your ini, it's a bad idea" Well it kind of is..
Most of what people will tell you to do is very untested and very hypothetical..

I just did a fresh install of Skyrim and tested it with the ini adjustments for both files (skyrim and skyrimperfs), like shadow res increases and multi sampling, lod, etc.. I had an fps hit but they did not lead me into a memory leak situation.
I run very extensive mods for HD textures, lighting effects, giant giants and dragons, monster mod etc.
All the kind of things you know are going to hurt performance but none of them lead me into the memory leak..

uGridsToLoad=7 is what I have mine set to and it seems to be fine. I wouldn't go any higher or I bet you risk the same kind of memory leak issue.
Point is beware of the ini tweaks and if you run into some serious stability issues, Put the cell buffer back to default and try it out..
Put your inis back to default or some of the more obscure settings back to default and see what it is..
It's not always the mods making you crash or run bad, it's what your doing to the inis..
I was crashing like every hour or so until I did this so I hope it helps someone..lol..

Also If You are having the INVISIBLE WATER GLITCH.. Go back into your skyrimperfsini and enable dept of field
( bDoDepthOfField=1 ). If you disable it, water becomes invisible when you are submerged.

That is not a viable way of fixing the under water thing. There is a mod on nexus that fixes it and im pretty sure the most recent update fixes it too.

Lol how u gonna tell me it's not viable? If you go right now this very second and turn off depth of field I bet you your water goes invisible when your submerged.
A lot of people unwittingly disable DOF because it's part of a mod package or they just plain don't like DOF. I always disable it.

Who wants a mod for something as simple as fixing one line in an ini?
That's overkill if in case, this is whats causing the issue for you.

PS: Being "pretty sure" means you're not sure at all...lol..
I can't help but laugh a little when I spend like 6 hours testing the ini, line by line, then I post in the forums and someone tries to dismantle the statement, with speculation.

Also disregard what I said about the Exteriorcellbuffer, turns out I had a partially corrupted save file I'm pretty sure..

It is only out for Xbox currently but will be available for PC soon for around ~$15-20 i believe. The HD texture pack is found on steam and i do believe it is listed as DLC

Question for you guys: I have just started playin Skyrim again after quite a few months... When I was still playing, I used to install my mods manually, I didn't use NEXUX Mod Manager...

Now I would like to use NMM and use it's advantages... But I've got all my former mods installed in different folders... textures and whatnot... And NMM (now installed) doesn't have em added to the mod list...

Must I Re-install every single mod thru NMM again, in order to have it in the list???

At first glance, I thought that water was real.

edit: From that link, I found this . . . "So, I'm Pretty Sure My Skyrim Wife Is Cheating On Me"

Might be doing a big overhaul of the mods I have installed! Deleting a lot of waht I already have and reinstalling new and better ones. For one Pure Waters(looks way better and more like a natural water then W.A.T.E.R) and Texture combiner for land scape

Wow I really should have been using Nexus Mod Manager from the beginning. This is going to be a bitch to reinstall EVERYTHING!
