The new Corsair SP120 High Performance Fan

Hi all. Just bought myself 2 of these in the dual pack for my H60 rad. They are quite noisy running them ay 12v and 2000 rpm so i decided to use the voltage step down adapter 7v. They now run at 1700 rpm and still they have shaved 5 degrees off my temps. I think Corsair are going to sell a crap load of these. Please, what are your adventures like using these fans?

I run them at full tilt at 2020rpm on my fan controller and they have a nice sound. Not blazing loud. Just a nice hum. I have 2 of them doing push pull, and then I have 4 Corsair AF120 on my case.

Nice!

Mine make a slight whirring noise at 2000 rpm but i read somewhere that pushing the center mite click into place and get rid of that sound as the fan mite be on slightly out of line. I'l give it a go and see if it's the problem. I could do with these running flat out as running them at 7v is quiet but loses some performance. I'l give it a go

I've found that the rubber mount meant to dampen vibration is actually causing an annoying 'grinding' sound with these SP120s on my H100. I'm probably going to get rid of them and go back to stock. Wouldn't rec them to anyone planning on using them with a Hydro Series cooler.

Yes, when i was trying to screw them to my h60 rad they screwed up but felt kinda loose, maybe some of my noise problem? I do like the fans, they perform very well for the given job. Maybe the noise thing and what you mentioned theonedub can be fixed in later revisions, hope so.

I like fans I have hundreds, but those are so overpriced its ridiculous.

I started a whole thread on the graphs he has there. One thing I don't like about those tests is that all the fans are silent fans except the two top corsair fans. This makes them look like they have extreme performance compared to the others.

Perhaps they should do a performance fan chart and a quiet fan chart. That would be the real test and help people decide what performance fan they want and what quiet fan they want as they would be tested against other fans in that catagory.

That would be great. To summarize the linus tests. The two corsair fans were the quietest. Although they did test a cougar fan, and I have one. The cougar fan is silent for me so... ya. The yate loon low speed seemed to be the best of the quiets.
