Question: Giving away boxed games (not codes)
Thanks to theonedub and manofthem for making TPU an even better place, I'd like to follow thier lead and give away some games I have. The only catch is I have DVD media only and would have to ship, so I thought I'd limit giveaways to the lower 48 and pay for shipping myself.
I guess this is a question for mods... is this kosher??? |

Some of my early giveaways were boxed copies. The mods let it go, but I did include pics of the games with my username just to be safe.

You could always put the option for other members in other continents to pay for shipping.
I'd know I'd consider it

I'd entertain that, but the problem is I can't ship internationally from work... I'd have to use up a lunch break to go to the post office or UPS store. It's just a hassle I'd rather not take on to give away a game. If I had codes to send, I would do that in a heartbeat.

If you are having a contest giving something away in the gaming section, you are free to set the rules on where you are willing to ship. Just make sure that in the original post that you make it clear that the contest or give-away winners must be in a certain geographical area (ie. continental US).
You cannot charge for shipping in a contest (as Erocker stated) as then it becomes a BST type thread. There are ways to possibly mitigate international shipping charges to less than $10 when shipping a boxed game by collapsiing the product and sending it USPS 1st class. PM me for details if you would like ... and thanks for asking first.

I for one am excited about your boxed-copy-game-giveaway. Hopefully we'll see some pretty soon.
