There is no way for us to know that. I would get another psu and try to spread the fans out on the cables. Te4st with a new psu. You will be able to see what has been fried or not.

Agreed, no way to tell. If it was a cheap PSU, very possible that it took other parts with it. DON'T SKIMP ON YOUR PSUs! It's like feeding cheetos to an olympic athlete!

Can you take a picture so we can get a better understanding of your cable connections?

Case fans can be powered by connecting them to motherboard headers or by connecting directly to the PSU through molex or connecting to a fan controller which has to be powerd by a molex from the PSU.
What have you done? You have a separate fan controller? What make is it, how many fans you have connected to the fan controller? This is a good test to see if your PSU is dead from whatever you were doing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FWXgQSokF4 |

I'm not sure what fans and what motherboard you used, but if you pulled more than the typical 1A-1.5A on your motherboard's fan header then you probably blew the fan header. If it's a cheaper board then it could be possible that it took the motherboard with it.
