A New Dawn was developed to showcase the performance and capabilities of NVIDIA’s flagship GeForce GTX 690 graphics card, but following reader feedback after the initial announcement of the demo last month, we have introduced a less demanding mode that allows GeForce GTX 670 and 680 owners to also enjoy the demo.
less demanding means more optimization or winding down the quality settings?

Quote:
New Dawn’s hair is a giant leap forward. Thanks to DirectX 11 tessellation, she has gone from a scant 1,700 strands to 40,000 soft locks of hair.
now thats something we would like to see more of in games too..

what kind of framerates are u getting in Ultra mode, Crap Daddy?

Sweet, something new to benchmark that should really be rough on newer systems.
I'll be getting this right when I get home.
Ty once again CD.

I tried watching it at work and it stalled my internet/system to the point I had to end the process..lol..

I ran it again and again and a g a i n. Sorry, it's trippy. When I got back to the real world I could see steady 12 FPS...

I think it's a better test than Furmark, more enjoyable. In 64bit exe which runs by default Afterburner can't display so make sure you run the32bit which you find in your install folder. In top left there's an arrow where you can set, well, the settings. It runs Ultra by default hence the 12FPS.

It is really made for 690 or 680/70 SLI but nevertheless it is beautiful and runs smooth at the aforementioned 12-14 FPS on my card. Have fun.

I think it's more like PhysX and/or CUDA which is involved here.

Watched the video instead, is it just me or does it seem pointless to release a demo with such nice graphics only to ruin it with poor animation?

The facial animation was especially creepy.

ran it once on my machine and it ran fine, around was it 28fps with Ultra and VSync on in "control mode" or what u call it, i need to check readme or something to see if u can get it to run automaticly a test or something ^^;

re-ran it and i got around 16~21,4fps using TPU OSD and higher when my system could crank it up but not lower than 16fps.

Not sure if sarcasm or ignorance ....

If the later, Dawn is the name of an nvidia Demo for the 5000 series cards years back (might be 6 or 7000 though ha ha) Dawn is the name of the fairy.

This the same character but a new demo, hence the name.

It's creepy alright. (but the skin is pretty realistic) That's probably why NV is a company with lots of engineers and is making software and tech and not games. Although they support heavily the gaming industry.

Can I take a thanks away from you for this? If I could, I would..
Read then post, in that order please..

How are you guys monitoring fps? Fraps?
I just ran it and it runs very well on one 680 gtx but there are times it stutters a bit. Very high end texture work here.
Animations could use some work though, I agree.
She had a pretty creepy smile and jerky movements.

Want to see how BA your system really is? Hit Tab while running it.. lol....

I get a steady 21 fps on my gtx 680.
I overclock it to +100, +200 though and +2% voltage.
Fraps is capping at 30 though, demo must lock at 30 fps I guess.

have u tried TPU's OSD that W1zzard has made? bcs i found out of it takes less resources than Fraps so in heavy gaming it should interfere less with the game than Fraps.

When they get on a thread like this and they try to one-up each other is when they teach us what we don't know. You have to be more patient.

There is a AMD patch available chaps : ] Google for source!

I get 15 FPS default settings(ultra mode on etc) at default clock speed for my card (900mhz)

I get 18 FPS @1200mhz gpu /1375mhz ram

Clock speed increase, it does nothing!

As creepy as this is, the skin is phenomenal!

The area at the base of the neck/collar bone honestly looks like it's a real person.

I ran the Demo and it's very smooth for me.

I don't know if my settings are maxed or not?

Do I just enable all the options in the 'Controls' menu?
